Q:i have heard of ceramic before but is tourmaline a type of ceramic? or what?: Tourmaline is a naturally occurring, semi-precious stone. I'm a ceramic engineer, and I've never heard of a tourmaline ceramic. The only thing I can think of, is someone is describing the glaze color as tourmaline.

Factory mechanics are great for telling you items that need replaced when they don't. A lot of times you can simply have the boots replaced. Mr. or Ms. auto owner quite often doesn't know enough about CV works. Surely there are competent mechanics in your town ( or close by) that can tell you the extent of the damage, and quite often give you a much lower price. SHOP IT 'ROUND. If there is still warranty left on the VW you shouldn't have to pay anything to have it repaired. Look up your warranty info.

Q:Okay I went and saw my ortho today and I told his at my first appointment I wanted the metal ones cause they were cheaper. Well now he said I‘m getting the ceramic ones on top and the metal on the bottomwill that look odd? AND I don‘t have to pay any more then I have to, which is a bonus! I get them on next week!! I think you're paying too much for JUST ceramic on top. It might look odd but its better than metal on both top and bottom. Q:Can ceramic bowls go into the oven?: Usually ceramic bowls are oven safe, now there are some that still are not. Usually they'll say it on the bottom. ***microwave-oven-dishwasher safe***

Q:I Really don‘t like how the ceramic braces look in pictures and basically in general. I REALLY want metal braces now, but I don‘t know if that‘s possible. Is it possible? and will it cost extra?: not a whole lot. everything connects though pretty much, so header/exhaust and a cold air plus some engine work done can help, but header and exhaust alone wont make much of a difference

Q:I‘m thinking of buying one for my hedgehog, but my question is. Since my cage setup is two sterlite bins connected with a tube, do you think the emitter would be able to heat both bins?: Heating pet cages is interesting question. Claire's rabbits were banished to the garage, which gets quite cool at night in the winter. We got a small heater with a fan and a thermostat, put walls near the cage, and the heater near the cage. The fan would blow warm air towards the bunnies, keeping that corner of the garage warm. This is better, I think, than a purely radiative (no fan ceramic) type, because the ceramic heater will warm the sterite contaner it is pointed to. This will not be efficient, and could be a fire hazard. Put it on a GFI circuit for safety. I also put a light on a timer so it was on during the day. Turn the thermostat relatively cool. You can also put a cheap thermometer there. Rodents are supposedly ok to near freezing temps, but we kept their cages above 55°F, since they can't snuggle in their insulating dens the way they do in the wild. Our bunny cage is open, so air can circulate. Air circulation is probably not good inside your sterite containers, but if you keep the outside reasonably warm, the inside will be too. Important to keep cages out of the wind if you want to keep them warm.

Q:What do you prefer and why?I have used ebc and hawks I like each of them for different reasons and also discovered that many state they are both semi metallic but the better company and materials preformed noticeably better, the hawk hps stopped me fast enough I could black out from the gs, the ebc had good grip when you really went down on them and ceramics reacted quickly but braked like a standard oem semi metallic.: Hawk HPS brake pads are made of Ferro-Carbon. EBC Red is No steel - Ceramic Kevlar. EBC Ultimax website gives no indication of what they're made of. If you carefully weigh all things considered EBC Red is the cleanest, does the least amount of damage to rotors and stopping ability is better than any OEM pad. Presently I'm trying a set of Bendix CQ.3 Ceramic pads with EBC slotted and dimpled rotors. Inside each rotor box there was a warning that said you'd hear an airplane propeller sound while the pads broke in. They sure were right! Apparently the slots cause this. The sound greatly decreased after break in. For the first 500 miles I noticed a lot of brake dust while the pads burnished in. After the first 500 miles the aluminum wheels on the Grand Prix are squeaky clean. Braking power is somewhat better but requires a little more leg to stop. For the hell of it I may switch to the EBC Red's to see if petal pressure is less. I know you can buy Performance Friction at Auto Zone. From past experience on customers cars the Performance Friction pads stop well but they're somewhat dirty. I probably should have stuck to AC-Delco ceramic pads to begin with.
