Introduction of GRC AR Glassfiber Spray Roving:

AR Glassfiber Spray Roving is mainly designed for use in the manufacture of GRC composites by the manual spray method. It is designed for optimum processability. It is used in the manufacture of GRC architectural panels and other building elements, civil engineering and infrastructure components.

AR Glassfiber Spray Roving is designed to be unwound internally. They are protected by a shrink-wrap polythene film which should not be removed when used. Each roving is identified by an individual label and packed in a carton.

Storage of GRC AR Glassfiber Spray Roving:

AR Glassfiber Spray Roving should be stored dry in their original packaging, the best conditions being at a temperature of between 15°C-35°C and at a relative humidity of between 35% - 65%. If the product is stored at low temperature (below 15°C) it is advisable to condition in the workshop for 24 hours before use to prevent condensation.

Q:It is cheaper to build a cement house than wood?: Cement no, But cement block is cheaper but it ugly.

Q:The house was built in 1925 without foundation tile, over the years whatever was painted over the brick interior walls has bubbled because of the moisture that would have been diverted by an appropriate ditch around the foundation, or tiles to drain it, etc. Several of these bubbles are basketball in size, and there are cracks in many areas of the stucco-like stuff that chips off in large pieces. I want to patch it up, and repaint, what is that stuff called? It looks like cement when chipped off, is it joint compound? How should I go about this? Moisture problems have been aleviated, now I just need to fix the cosmetics.: It's a special type of waterproofing finish that is meant for block walls--probably a type of stucco with added plastic compounds that make it impervious to water. You can't use joint compound---it's not meant to be applied over block, stone, or brick. You have to use a grout-like substance--something that contains an adhesive to make it stick, and some additional ingredients to keep it from absorbing water. Go to your local box store, hardware or construction store and ask them what they would recommend--take a piece of the chipped off stuff with you so they can identify what is already on the walls. Then use a waterproof basement paint to finish it off after you patch. I gotta tell you, though--if you have a problem UNDER the stuff now, (because it's bubbling and cracking) you won't get rid of that problem by patching--you may have to get a pro in there to waterproof and seal the block from scratch. And that's a lot of $$.

Q:We are having our bathroom remodeled at our apartment and while demolishing the walls and ceiling, powder like cement dusts have entered the walk-in closet and landed on our clothes. It looks as if we had a dust storm.Is it okay to just shake off the dusts and re-hang 'em? or do I need to wash them? The apartment is probably like more than 60 years old. I have no idea what they put in cements back in the days. :-(: They often used asbestos in cement products to make it more pliable and workable before it was prohibited as a additive. Those sparkly ceilings were about the worse offenders. Even if you have asbestos free dust, it isn't good to breath it. We aren't built to breath dust. When it gets in our lungs it often coats our insides. Usually it takes years to feel the effects. We have aleovea or air sacs that help in the gas exchange in our lungs. The dust can cause them to burst like balloons. The particles then fall down and destroy the next one. Finally you just suffocate. Smoking tobacco helps acerbate the problem. The dust needs to be removed. Watch the sunlight streaming in the windows. You will see little floaters called motes dancing on the beams. When you walk or move you will see an increase in their numbers. These are what is going into your lungs. Yes, take the clothes outside and beat the dust off them. Then wash them to remove the dust stuck to the fibers. Open the windows to help air out the dust that remains. The more dust that remains: the greater the risk to you. The dust is even more devastating to children. The younger they are the more lasting damage it can produce.

Q:It is one of those hollow cement/crushed stone stairs outdoors. The top step has a crack and small hole. ( Because of such changes in warm to cold weather this must have happened) There must be a fairly easy , non-expensive way to try and repair this step before it caves in: I use 3 parts of Portland cement to 2 parts of sand for such a repair. First take and clean out the area of all loose materials and then coat it with a coat of Latex paint. Then mix the Portland and sand dry, then add to about a gallon of the mixture a 1/4 cut of that latex paint, add water to suit giving a consistency of tooth paste. Fill the hole, let it sit for at least 2 hours, then scrape it neatly with a trowel, leveling it. This bond with the latex is about the best around, better that any sort of stuff sold at Lowes or Home Depot. Our local hardware store has Portland cement in 10# bags so you dont have to go out and get a 100# bag. Buy your bagged sand right there too. DO NOT use the premix stuff ( sand and cement) in a bag, simply not enough Portland in that stuff and a sure way to have a failure of this patch.

Q:Im screwing masonite to sheetrock then going over the masonite with a sheet of 4x8 laminate. This is on a wall. I want an adhesive that will give me at least 30sec to get it set right and square. But i dont want an adhesive I have to have constant pressure on for an hour either. Someone told me linoleum adhesive ? I do not want to use contact cement im a newby and need the workability time to get it on right.: Contact cement is the way to go. Use wood strips to hold the laminate off the wall until ready to attach. Then just working down, remove the spacers. NO pressure need just rub down with a smooth block of wood in a towel. DONE. Did this method numerous times working in restaurants. Laminate makes a washable surface that lasts for years.

Q:So am trying to remodel my bathroom and was wondering if cement board would work better than greenboard as the shower wall? I've read that cement board can be used on floors or kitchen tops but am not sure if I can use it on bathrooms??: You can use cement board in damp locations but around here it's quite a lot more expensive than greenboard. Greenboard works well and I used it for my entire bathroom because I love long, hot steamy showers and baths. Without greenboard backing the bathroom can start to grow mildew in the drywall.
