Q:I undid the P trap under my bathroom sink to clear a clog and now when I put the whole thing back together it leaks out of the top of the slip joint that connects the down pipe from the sink drain to the j-pipe. The down pipe is 1 - 1/4 and the j-pipe is 1-1/2 and I am using the correct reducer gasket. It was not leaking (and never had) before I took it apart. I have tried using a new gasket and teflon tape on the threads of the slip joint to no avail. Please give me some idea as to what the problem might be. Here is a link to a couple of pictures to show the general set-up and the specific problem: http://www.flickr /photos/sesquilia/?saved=1Thanks to anyone that can help.
Just got through going at the same business with mine. The upper gasket at the bottom of the sink was my problem. Had to use a piece of toilet paper to find it. wrapped it around the pipe and found the water was coming down the back side of he upper pipe and looked like it was dripping from the connection as the first union. Give this a try, I would be really reluctant to use silicone should you need to take it apart again, it will be very difficult. If you have already replaced the parts, it has to be something else. The teflon tape is not doing you any good, but it is not harming either unless it is getting under the gasket. Also another thing that threw me off on mine with the rust which was occurring on the pipe, I thought the rust was getting on the gasket. If you have done your kitchen sink then you are not a novice at this and I suspect making your repairs correctly. I would look beyond the gasket. P.S, good pictures, really explains your situation well, and your description is well written.
Q:I have a hair line crack in my bathroom sink, any ideas how to repair it so it does not show, my sink is a cream color
Home Depot and Lowes have kits that can repair sinks and even paints (looks like nail polish) that once repaired you can paint it and cover the area. Ask an associate that works at one of those places for their advice.
Q:Tablet Decoration how to do, artificial stone surface decal how to do the process, where the film can buy
You are advised not to do or stainless steel pots higher than the table a little better because of such a clean and clean even if the basin and the table can be flattened, then the formation of a circle of grooves so easy to hide dirt and cause health cleanup is not completely from the outside The indecent indecentness
Q:Toilet pots are white with what color silicone is good
Generally used transparent anti-mildew, can also be used porcelain white.
Q:Is the bathroom cabinet with quartz stone? Or polyline good? There seems to be a kind of acrylic material pots Ask for help, intends to buy a laundry cabinet, see bad
Summary: Whether it is polyline, acrylic stone or quartz stone, materials, ingredients to determine the characteristics of the work process to determine the quality, not all aspects of polycrystalline are better than other stones, nor other stone is certainly better than artificial stone, In the market, are good and bad, the user in the purchase of stone, as much as possible to compare the various manufacturers of products. Q:I share the bathroom with my parents and theirs is really clean!!! But its all the way at the other side of the house so i use my brothers during the night. And there are tiny bugs sorta like magots in the sink it grosses me out so much i dont wash my hands. Do you think i should clean it and kill them or what??? They are probaly attracted to the dirt and gross stuff in the drain but it makes me sick!
I would just pour bleach down the drain to kill whatever is in there attracting bugs, then I would go ahead and clean the rest of the bathroom myself. Then, I would buy him some Lysol wipes and set them under the sink and if he don't take the hint and use them, I would just use one at night to wipe down at least the sink and toilet myself. I can't use a dirty bathroom.
Q:Can a newborn baby share a washbasin with an adult?
If the accident and the baby did not have any unusual reaction do not have to worry too much.
Q:Our house is really really clean but for some reason weve got these flying insects (really tiny) around our bathroom sink. Yesterday morning there were about 5 and I killed them all by splashing water on them. I came back later in the afternoon and there were about 20! My mom took a can of lysol and sprayed them down but there were more again at night. I think they might be fungus gnats because they seem to relish in the moisture. But how do I get rid of them? Someone suggested pouring bleach down the drain but I think this will only be another temporary solution for these pests. HELP!
ICK! I have had those before and they are tough to get rid of. I had them in my kitchen around the sink. First I scrubbed the sink and flushed it with hot water and followed that with a cup of bleach. Then, I sat a bowl of water out with a few drops of dishwashing liquid in it. It attracted the ones that escaped from their sink lair, in about a week they were almost totally gone. Completely gone after two. Hopes this helps! P.S- to keep them at bay, make sure to keep your sink drains clear. I pour the hot water and bleach down my drain once a week.
Q:how are ceramic bathroom sinks shaped?
Ceramic fixtures are made of clay. That clay is shaped (often poured from a liquid form into a mold). The clay dries and hardens that clay is then fired in a kiln at extremely high temperatures, converting it to a very hard material. It is then coated with glaze, and fired again, filling the pores and giving it the smooth shiny surface.
Q:Does anyone have these bathroom sinks?
It may sound dumb, but I hate these sinks and I'll tell you why. With a traditional undermount sink or a counter that has a sink built in, the height is perfect to reach in and wash your hands. With these new bowl sinks or topmount sinks, you significantly raise the height and your forearms have a tendency to touch the sides of the bowl. It's the stupidest reason but I cant stand adjusting to new heights in kitchens or bathrooms. You get comfortable with standard heights and readjusting after so many years just becomes an annoyance.
