Q:Complete DIY newbie here with an outdated bathroom that I want to make a master. The floor is covered in hideous 1x1 tiles. I will replace this tile with some 12x12 or 8x8. Any suggestions on how to get this stuff off?
If you are going to replace everything down to subfloor and start fresh, hammer the tiles to break them loose. Some people will use a sledge hammer also. Then you just have to use a flat edge shovel to pick up broken tiles and toss out. Have a wheel barrow or a garbage can lined with a contractors trash bag close by. (they are stronger than regular type) Wear a dust mask also, gets dust everywhere.
Q:i wanted to make a moseque out of ordiniary household tiles i have left over from small jobs around the house. can this be done and is it safe?
You can, but you'll probably regret it after the first rainfall ruins them.
Q:My fireplace is non-working and it is made of ugly red tile that looks dirty and has pen marks on it from previous owner's kids. I want to paint it to update the look. What would Fleck Stone paint look like?
Painting okorder /... these tiles, or stones, whichever you like, are already mounted on sheets, so you don't have to place them individually. Again, you get that double stick tile paper stuff, then just stick it on the red tiles, put new tiles on top, then grout! Super easy!
Q:What kind of tiles good? How to look?
1, size: size of the product size Qi, can save construction time, and neat and beautiful. 2, water absorption: low water absorption of tiles is not due to climate change thermal expansion and contraction caused by cracking or peeling. 3, flatness: good flatness of the tile, the surface is not bent, not Qiaojiao, easy construction, construction after the ground flat. 4, strength: high flexural strength, good wear resistance and anti-stress, easy to wear, timeless, suitable for public places. 5, color: the tile on the floor, fight in a square meter, from the three meters to see whether there are different shades of color or can not interface, resulting in beautiful obstacles.
Q:More specifically, do you lay the tile right against the floorboard with no groat visible? Or would you put a spacer in between the floorboard and the tile so that it you have grout along the edge?
That is what base boards and shoe molding are for. To cover the gap in the flooring material at the wall.
Q:We have ceramic tile on the wall in the bathroom with a few tiles of color. Hate to change whole bathroom.
You can paint it or change the tiles. I Cr 13;8a
Q:Ok my room has asbestos on the vynil tile floor and it‘s in good condition. I‘m trying to put a carpet on top of the floor is it possible without removing the tile? Home Depot wants me to remove it before they install the carpet.
It is possible to install a rug over asbestos tile. Legally, if you wanted to remove the tile, you'd have to hire a licensed asbestos abatement contractor to do the work and dispose of the tiles. They can't just be thrown in any landfill. It could get costly depending on your budget. The advantage is that once you remove the asbestos, its good for good and its easier to sell the house later on in life. However, Home Depot and a few other contractors prefer to lay carpet down on bare floors. The concern is years later, they can't guarantee their work because the tiles under the rug could come loose, etc.
Q:We want to put up kitchen tile for our back splash. I would like to put the squares on diagonally but my husband is concerned about the difficulty of all of the cuts. I need some DYI help. Please only serious replies, no jokesters
Not totally sure what you are asking. I have applied square tiles in a diamond pattern. Be sure to get a wet tile saw to cut the tiles diagonally in half, as this will do a much neater job and make things easy for you. It really wasn't that difficult, lay out your pattern on the floor to get an idea how many cuts you need to make. Use those plastic spacers to ensure uniform spacings between tiles and then just have fun with it. It was a project that I enjoyed and it brought instant enhancements to the kitchen.
Q:I dont know if the cabinets are to large width wise... so I might need to trim the tile?
Use a hand-held grinder with a 4 blade and wear safety goggles!!!
Q:hi friends.. we r constructing a new house.. many people say us lay tiles for floorins and many say to use marbles or granite?...so confused!!!!.. wat to do?quite big house situated quite beneath the hills.
