Q:my 1991 Honda accord has auto transmission with the optional sport or normal switch.the light blinks nonstop?: if your s light is blinking on your dash it means that the control unit for the transmission has detected a problem with your transmission electronic control system, you need to jump the connector at the right front kick panel and then turn the key on and the code will flash on the dash, you should take it to a honda technician to repair it can be many different things, by the way does your speedometer work, on the model had a problem with the speedsensor and the speedo would work erratic or just stop, that would cause the light to flash also.

Q:i went to auto zone and they checked it for me and told me the code was obd II PO442 they told me all i had to do was change the gas cap, boy were they full of it, can anyone tell me what could be wronge, Thanks: That code deals with any sort of a problem in the Evaporative Emissions System. And usually a gas cap night tight enough or worn out is the likely fix. AND if it is that, the light may not shut off for 2-3 weeks after you tighten it enough to hear 3 clicks or after it is replaced and tightened that tight. HOWEVER there are similar causes of that code. 1 is a bad vent solenoid or valve, 2 a bad purge valve or solenoid or 3 a bad OBD computer on that car.

Q:My Nissan Armada '04 service engine soon light has been on for a while. I took it to get a NYS inspection and they said not to get the inspection until I figure out what's wrong with the engine because if they hooked it up to the computer it would be an automatic failure. I recently had to replace a part of the muffler/exhaust pipe because a clamp was missing and they had to weld a piece of piping on. That is data in the computer when the engine light turned on. I can with that information help you have the correct part replaced. Electric ARC Welding on electronic control car with the computers and electrical system plugged in is not a good thing. I will go out on a limb and guess P0420 or P0430 that is left side cat converter or right side cat converter both warrantied for 8 years 80,000 miles.

Q:i have an 03 chevy malibu and the battery light keeps coming on. I replaced a new battery 2 weeks ago and last week i had a new alternator installed. Should i worry about it or should i bring it into an auto shop to check it out?: Light is supposed to be telling you that something in charging system is not working, -- you should have had that checked out before buying anything! But that is a little late to worry about now! The charging circuit consists of a number of things,- not just a battery and alternator! There are also wires, (and fuses possibly), Belt could be slipping, bad connections on battery clamps (especially if one of those clamp on ones has been added,- they are bad news)! You could also have bad ground cable between engine and chassis of car! You can have this checked out free at WalMart. AutoZone,or a lot of other places that sell auto parts and batterys! Have it done with everything right in car, -- after all the circuits and parts in car are what it is going to have to work with! Good parts thrown in with defective parts just aren't going to make the system work right! And then,-- just because new stuff was put in does not mean that the new stuff is good! In over 55 years, I have seen tons of new stuff that didn't work (right out of factory boxes)!

Q:I went to work yesterday and when I got into my car the car didn‘t start and everything was shot off. The lights were on and I knew the battery was dead. After this, I got my jumper cables out and tried to jump the car but when I turned the key, the RPM gauge needle went all the way to 8 and dropped to the other side and the whole system shut down. After that, nothing else worked even with the cables connected. It‘s a 1990 Honda Civic and it‘s a fairly new battery. What is the problem and how do I fix it?: You didn't give a lot of info. You said your lights were on. Was your headlight working? If your headlight is working then it's not your battery. The headlight drains the battery more than anything else so that would be the first to go if your battery was dead. Does your engine try to start but just doesn't quite make it or does it not make any noise at all? If no noise, do you hear a clicking noise? These are important questions. Just tow your car into a shop. I doubt you will be able to fix your car by yourself.

Q:I purchased the car in March and it runs fine. In the past month I have noticed that occasionally the battery light comes on. It does not matter whether the lights or a/c are on or off. I tried reving the engine to see if that would turn it off and that does not seem to make a difference. After a minute or two it goes off and may not do it again for a week. The meter on the dash shows that the system is charging. I do not know the age of the battery as it is not marked, but the terminals are tight and do not have corrosion.: the reason its going off and on its telling you theres something wrong with the charging system i would have the battery and terminals checked the then i would check the altanator most places cant tell you your stuff is going bad when they run a test all the test dose it tell you if its bad or good but the light dont lie so the best way to check is to run your car at normal idal and turn all the lights on every thing with a volt meter place each end on the battery pos and neg side and see if your battery charging if your battery is putting out 12 or more volts when running then the altanator is charging your battery if it not i would go the cheapest way by replacing the battery if you problem still exsist then your altanator is bad those are the only two items that would make that light come on

Q:my bmw 1988 528e is dying my battery. I have replaced my battery as well as my alternator?: The electrical system in this vehicle is not that complex. But you wil need external amp probe to monitor the amp draw in the vehicle. Gaining acsess to the fuse pannel. Remove fuse one by one until draw no longer is present. This way you find what circut the draw is on. From there you find a wirring diagram and unplug the diffrent things on the circut. Clamp on amp probe availible at auto parts store cheap. Since this is a older vehicle anything over 100ma is to much.
