PORTLAND CEMENT

Portland cement is the most common type of cement in general use around the world, used as a basic ingredient of concrete, mortar, stucco, and most non-specialty grout.

It is a fine powder produced by heating materials in a kiln to form what is called clinker, grinding the clinker, and adding small amounts of other materials.

Several types of Portland cement are available with the most common being called ordinary Portland cement (OPC) which is grey in color, but a white Portland cement is also available.

Application

CNBM Cement can be used for all types of architectural or structural concrete construction. Such application as pre-cast panels and systems, cast-in-place, masonry units, tilt-up panel systems, roofing tiles, terrazzo floors, highway median barriers, tile grout, swimming pools, stucco, culture stone, colored masonry products, cement paints and coatings, and ornamental precast concrete items.

Q:I am putting in a small 12'x60' mobile home on the new property I just bought, to use as an office for my farm. Would I need to put a cement pad in for the home to sit on? Would it need to be the complete size of the mobile home i.e 12x60 or could I use smaller pads just where the wheels are going to sit?
you dont really need a cement pad for it to sit on but you can put one if you wish , you will need to have piers undr it tho , on the corners and about every 10 feet apart on both sides of it from one end to the other, these piers will be needed with a cement pad or with out a cement pad for leveling purposes,so as a money saver i wouldnt use a pad under it but if you do it will need to be 12x60
Q:My aunt found a kitten and she was COVERED in cement. We took some off because it was eating her skin or something like that. But whats a faster way to get if off or loosen it to make it easier...Please help!
You'd probably do best to get some help from a vet. She might have skin irritation she'll need treatment for and her little body is very fragile. If you found her, she needs a check anyway. There's no telling what's happened to her. It's just always a good idea to get a new kitten checked out - especially if she's covered in cement. Poor thing.
Q:Where does slag cement is best utilized? Which stage of construction it is to be used?
Advantages Of Slag Cement
Q:I tried to set anchor but its to sandy and i drove it straight through. I'm assuming I need to replace? Is there anything else I can do to cure the concrete to make it hard?
erm let it dry! otherwise youve got an expensive conctete block problem thats gotta get dug up
Q:I have a patio that is half cement and half open space. I want to put cement blocks/slabs in the open space. I've had mulch and rock; however, I am tired of that look. I was told I could not cement the open space because it will crack in the future so I am wondering if I can put sand under cement slabs/blocks in the open space. Someone suggested I put white rock, but I want a flat surface so that my niece and play back there. Any suggestions, please?
You are going have to put some form of bedding like crushed stone under the sand first sand itself won't do the job as for cement that won't do either using concrete is the preferred method again laying on a bedding of crushed stone you don't specify the area you want to cover over so all I can say is you will need to excavate the area firstly to a depth of 6 inches minimum that will allow for 2 inches of crushed stone a weed blocker/plastic sheeting 2 inches of sand and cement dry mix and using a slab 2 inches deep to rest on there. Also a slight slope will need to be made to allow surface water run away from house and not be allowed flow back towards your patio. If you decide to use concrete again cut out 6 inches of ground and 3 inches of crushed stone weed blocker and a concrete slab when pouring concrete try to keep it semi dry,too much water is not good as when concrete drys it shrinks and can cause cracking later,I don't think you would have to re-inforce it as you won't be using the car on there ok.
Q:So......I'm a little over my head here. Started taking down wallpaper and wouldn't you know it, there was layer, upon layer and then I accidentially started taking up the backing and came to cement. Have done what I could to salvage what I did, but have decided I'm going to use textured wallpaper over the existing. Do you think it'd be alright to paper right over and on the cement?
concrete or cement is a porous surface and will not let the glue stick for the long haul. you need to paint the surface with a sealer before you began. a good sealer to use is dryloc. you can pick it up in any paint store or hardware store.
Q:Crack in cement floor of resdential ranch, crack runs left to right ( if facing front of house), tile was taken up and I verified that there was no moisture coming through. I checked around walls and did not see any indication that the cement floor has dropped. I am thinking it might be caused by roots? (very big pin oak (2 of) 15-20 feet away from house, ). If it is roots, would slab jacking be a waste untill roots are taken care of ?Thanks!
I am interested about it. But it is the same questions of me. What's the solution of that.
Q:please i need help cause i don't know y we r doing this experiment in the first place any one ?
um i think you have that wrong tensile strength is a measurement of how strong something is when stretched so i will assume you mean... MORTAR.. not motor testing the strength of mortar is important for knowing how strong it is when bonding things like cement blocks together when building structures, or for doing a parging coat with .. etc..
Q:How is Portland Cement made? What is the difference between concrete and Portland Cement?
Portland cement is the most common type of cement in general usage in many parts of the world, as it is a basic ingredient of concrete, mortar, stucco and most non-specialty grout. It is a fine powder produced by grinding Portland cement clinker (more than 90%), a limited amount of calcium sulfate which controls the set time, and up to 5% minor constituents (as allowed by various standards). Portland cement, the basic ingredient of concrete, is a closely controlled chemical combination of calcium, silicon, aluminum, iron and small amounts of other ingredients to which gypsum is added in the final grinding process to regulate the setting time of the concrete. Lime and silica make up about 85% of the mass. Common among the materials used in its manufacture are limestone, shells, and chalk or marl combined with shale, clay, slate or blast furnace slag, silica sand, and iron ore. Portland was developed from cements (or correctly hydraulic limes) made in Britain in the early part of the nineteenth century, and its name is derived from its similarity to Portland stone, a type of building stone that was quarried on the Isle of Portland in Dorset, England. Joseph Aspdin, a British bricklayer, in 1824 was granted a patent for a process of making a cement which he called Portland cement. In its simplest form, concrete is a mixture of paste and aggregates. The paste, composed of portland cement and water, coats the surface of the fine and coarse aggregates. Through a chemical reaction called hydration, the paste hardens and gains strength to form the rock-like mass known as concrete. Within this process lies the key to a remarkable trait of concrete: it's plastic and malleable when newly mixed, strong and durable when hardened. These qualities explain why one material, concrete, can build skyscrapers, bridges, sidewalks and superhighways, houses and dams.
Q:Explain why. Don't just give a yes or no answer. Full details
