Q:I need to mix 25 pounds of cement for a garden project ( a large stepping stone). In the past I have found it really difficult and physically tough to get the cement mixed relatively quickly to get the cement poured in the mold. I am mixing in a mop bucket. Does anyone have any suggestions to make this project easier?
challenging stuff. lookup in the search engines. it can help!
Q:how do you resurface cement steps?
First check the quality of the cement, it may be inferior to construction standards. When you determine it is good, then you need to rough up the surface with a tool like a chisel to give the new surface a grip. Mix a screened sand with some portland at a 2 to 1 mix and trowel it on with a steel finishing trowel
Q:I have recently built a brick bbq and the cement/sand between the brick has gone really dry and a very light grey colour - nothing like the colour of the cement between the bricks on my house. I think it may be because I have too much cement in the sand to cement ratio, which is approx 3:1 respectively. Can you help?
probably the house builder added a colorant to the mortar, which makes it darker. You can actually stain the dry cement on your BBQ (with wood stain) or add a matte sealer, which will darken it some.
Q:could you please tell me a precise price for a square meter of cement.
Do you mean concrete ? Concrete is a mix of sand, gravel, portland cement and water. A lot of people informally refer to this mixture as cement. It is what is used to build blocks, walls and floors. If this is what you mean and you want it delivered in a mixer truck you should look in the yellow pages under concrete. The price varies a lot with locality. Also your second, third, fourth and subsequent cubic yards decline in price, (quite sharply at first) because the time and fuel needed for delivery are pretty much the same no matter how much you order. I imagine (and am sorry) this answer is not quite what you were looking for. Jeff
Q:I am installing chainlinnk fence 4' high and I am traying to figure how much cement is needed per post? I am putting them about 15quot; deep.
The posts should have about 2' in the ground. For a 4' fence, I usually use one 80lbs bag per post.
Q:i'm deciding on either white cement 4s 2012, or stealth 3s. i already have military blues but im starting not to like them, however i am not selling them. I reallydnt want another pair of 4s but the white cements are probably one of my favorite jordans. Which should i get?
Get the white cements
Q:what is the best kind of cement for filling cracks in foundations?
Epoxy
Q:I got a chunk of cement hardened in my toilet.I got the toilet fix 2 days ago, I think the workers accidentally drop some of the stuff into it.
Take a picture or two, then call the buys who repaired it and tell them they have to come back and fix it. If they give you a hard time, tell them you took pictures and threaten to call a lawyer. Then do it if you have to, but a threat is usually enough. Don't pay them a penny for coming back.
Q:Say that the first line of bricks on the foundation runs parallel to a reference point, let's say a nearby road, and the next line of bricks is put on top of the first line, but this time all the bricks are pointing in a direction that is 90 degrees to the road, and then again the third line of bricks is parallel to the road again etc. Why don't you do this instead? Laying cement and making sure everything's even isn't my strong suit and I want to build a house, so can I do it without cement, just pure brick? Let's say the walls are 4-5 bricks deep.
Not cement, mortar. The mortar helps bind the bricks to each other. Laying one dry next to another means there's no bond between them at all. You just need a couple of seasons of ground movement (you'd be amazed how much the ground moves with the seasons) to start making your bricks move apart from each other. I get what you're saying, laying bricks in the traditional fashion isn't the easiest thing in the world to do. It's really more of an art in practice, and a science in layout. You have to stay on your toes. But it isn't impossible either, those guys laying brick professionally didn't take a flying saucer to work. They don't wear capes and worry about kryptonite. They're regular people just like you, and you can learn the same skills they did. You say you want to build a house. Awesome. But if you want to put out that much effort, it's really worth it to do it right, right? I don't know where you could use this in your project but there is a product called surface bonding cement that allows you to build a wall by first dry-stacking the blocks, then coming back and troweling on the SBC. It has reinforcing fibers in it that allows the SBC to provide tensile strength even over the joints between blocks and keep the entire wall together. I don't know much about it, I haven't used it myself. It sounds like okay stuff however, and it may be that local codes permit you to use it to build your foundations. Good luck with your project.
Q:i'm replacing my tub area wall with cement backerboard. how do i butt the backerboard end with the textured drywall end? and how can i remove the old drywall joints (the area with the joint tape)? that's where i will butt the concrete backerboard.
To join the cement board and the drywall, use the same mud you use to join the cement boards.. Then overlap the tile onto the regular drywall by a few inches to hide that joint.
