Q:When I look at my car the passenger side is a little lower then the driver side. If I buy new shocks will that bring it up a little bit? Please help with some options if you know. Thanks very much.
No, your car rides on its springs. The shocks are just there absorb shock from the springs. If you replace your shocks, and the springs are still sagging, the car will still sag. Additional Info: It may not just need new springs, if its sagging, it could be a combination of the springs, struts, leaf springs, and shocks. If a leaf spring broke, it could put extra weight on your coil springs, which puts extra weight on your shocks, which puts extra weight on your struts, which means all of them need to be replaced. Your car may not have springs, it may only have a tortion bar. Could be broken control arm Either way, fixing ONLY the shocks isn't going to fix it. You need to have your entire suspension system checked out.
Q:I want to lift my car one inch (front back). What do I need to have done to my car for the lift?
On a 1 Lift, there shouldnt have to be many changes. The best way to go about this would probably be a body lift, because this only raises up the car itself, not the frame too. Lifting the frame means all new suspension, and gets expensive fast. A body lift will come with a few simple spacers that go between your body and frame, and just replace the original mounts. You can find most kits for just a few hundred bucks, and they are very safe and reliable. Hope this helps!
Q:The input piston and output plunger of a hydraulic car lift are at the same level, as shown in the drawing. The cross-sectional area of the input piston is 12 cm2, while that of the output plunger is 1200 cm2. The force F1 applied to the input piston has a magnitude of 140 N. What is the weight W of the car? Neglect the weight of the piston and plunger. Give your answer to two significant figures, e.g., 640 N.
The ratio of the areas of the pistions is 1 to 100, this ratio is the same for the force. The for of 140 N is changed a force of 14,000 N on the other pistion, but it will only be lifted 1/100th of the distance. Long story short according to your problem the car weighs 14,000 N or 1.4 times 10^4
Q:Chitown Customs charge $1200 for the lift kit. Is there any place in Illinois or Indiana that can by far beat that price?
LOL, a lift kit on a 300M.Don't be a douchebag
Q:its a 2007 corvette z06 with 37xxx miles. When im on the freeway in 6th gear, the car will jerk to the right everytime I accelerate. Also, while driving on a street the stick shift started shaking violently and the entire car started shaking with it, this would stop if I was rolling in neutral or if I just let go of the gas pedal and would start again as I accelerated. If I kept accelerating while the car was shaking, it would eventually stop shaking and then shake again after I shifted into the next gear. What the hell?
Wheel alignment? Run a couple tests T1: You say it will shake in 6th and jerk to the right when you accell, but will it do it when you leave it in gear and step on the clutch? If you say no then I have no idea what the **** is going on LMFAO - some squid called your corvette a FWD
Q:If the cars had a solid-built 1-piece tilt front cap Talladega & Daytona would the cars stay on the ground?
if you have the back of the car lifting, I'm not sure I understand how the front lifting would cause the rear to settle back down- as opposed to just lifting the whole car even higher. I do like the idea of just replacing the whole front cap in case of an accident. Didn't they used to be able to do that in SCCA in the 80's? My opinion of the best way to get rid of restrictor plates? Smaller engines. The teams already have special engines for the plate tracks, so just make them smaller.
Q:I really love lifted trucks and I have a ford ranger as my first car but I really want to lift it but its a lot of money. I really love lifted trucks and I want to do it to mine and put bigger tires on it too but should I do it or not? Is it worth it? I really really want to but do I really need it?
Lifted trucks are fun (I know! I have two of them!) but lift kits aren't exactly $5 and of course bigger tires are expensive too. What are your reasons for lifting it? Is it just for looks or do you plan on wheeling it? If this truck is going to stay on more paved roads than dirt and mud, I would go for a modest lift, maybe 2 inches, so you can put a slightly larger tire underneath it. Also, modifying your truck will make some differences in how it handles, its gas mileage, and can affect gearing, but with such a mild lift you should be okay. A body lift is a cheaper route to go, but it isn't always the best. Some body lifts are cheap enough that the truck can slip off of the blocks that you installed. This has happened to a friend of mine who was pulling someone out and he did some damage to his truck. A suspension lift, on the other hand, can provide more clearance for your diffs and is a more secure, safer way to go (my opinion). There are applications for Ford Rangers and there should be plenty of options for either lift style you choose. I would look into Skyjacker, Rancho, and Fabtech for a start. Do your shopping around and compare your options. As far as tires go, BF Goodrich ATs are a nice choice. These are good tires for highway driving and for mild mudding, not to mention they look pretty nice as they have an aggressive sidewall design.
Q:I plan to put 22s on my 01 grand am. Im using 1 1/4‘‘ wheel spacers. I think I need a 2‘‘ lift but im not sure. I my also need the right tire size.
If you need to lift the car to put wheels on it then you shouldn't put those wheels on it. That ghetto crap is so 2007 anyway. I thought we were past that now.
