- How long do you need the light to run at one time? You need enough battery to keep the light going at least that long, and probably 20% more than that. It is a fact of life that good batteries with enough capacity to keep you running for any amount of time cost a lot of money. There a dozens of choices, most of which can be bought with either sort of connector. Connector choices are cigarette lighter and phantom power if this is your only device that needs such a connector, the cigarette lighter type is as good as anything else. If you have other devices that need power, it makes sense to use one connector type between them. Having some lighter socket and some XLR just makes things more difficult.

- Check the battery contacts for any kind of corrosion. Does the charger register that the battery is there and SAY its charging? ETA: Check the battery contacts. It sounds as if something isn't connecting with the contacts on the charger. Either one of the contacts is corroded, gone, broken, bent, etc. Might be shot. Just check the contacts, press it firmly down on the charger and see if that makes connection

I have a Canon SLR and would like a panel to not only charge my AAA's batteries, Droid, and GPS, but most imprtantly the battery pack for my SLR.I haven't been able to find an adapter to charge a battery pack, as most solar panels utilize USB ports. The battery pack that comes with the camera must be installed into a device that plugs into the wall outlet.I would appreciate your help.Thank you all in advance.
- Forget Solar charging while backpacking. even a 5W panel which is 12 by 24 will take over half the day to do the charging. Unless you want to sit all day and charge, extra batts are the way to go.
