FAQ

Plastic mulch films typically last for one growing season, lasting anywhere from three to six months depending on the environmental conditions and the type of plastic used.
I thought plastic wasn't healthy. At least it's not healthy for us. How come plastic plants are everywhere in fish tanks but fish don't seem to mind? Can plastic harm them in any way?
The plastic is inert. I've raised fish for over thirty years. and lived with plastic things for longer. Still alive and kicking here. i've even worked in a plastic plant.. bably made some of the plastic forks you've used over the years. Still kicking! So are the fish. Like everything else, it depends on what and how its being used.
I personally prefer saying plastic wrap...it just sounds more natural I guess.
Plastic wrap,I say because it is a generic name not defining what brand is in the drawer.
One of the best ground covers for attracting butterflies is the butterfly bush (Buddleia davidii). Its vibrant flowers and sweet fragrance are irresistible to butterflies, making it a favorite choice for butterfly enthusiasts.
Yes, ground cover plants can be effectively used to control weed growth between garden beds. These low-growing plants create a dense cover, shading out weeds and preventing them from getting the necessary sunlight to grow. Additionally, ground cover plants act as a natural barrier, reducing the space for weeds to establish themselves.
Ughh.... plastics report for my C.I.M class. Can anyone tell me how plastics improve our lifestyle, or how they help us or benefit us?
1st answerer should temper his enthusiasm. Indeed plastics are generally tougher than glass and less corrodable than the cheaper metals, but only a few are biodegradable. Some types are still refused in many recycling programs. But here are a few ways they do improve our quality of life: lighter weight and thinner lenses in corrective glasses (due to lower density and higher index of refraction than glass); protective coatings; adhesives such as epoxy and superglue; high-strength structural materials (ABS, Delrin, and many others) and windows (Lexan); break-resistant containers, strong fibers like Kevlar for tough tires and bulletproof vests; many more. Improvements I could do without: adding unnecessary plastic items to paper or cardboard containers, such as a spout and cap to a milk container, or plastic impregnating containers of dry materials, so they aren't recyclable as paper.
Yes, nursery trays can be used for seedling transplanting. Nursery trays are specifically designed to provide a suitable environment for seed germination and early plant growth. They typically have individual cells or compartments to hold each seedling, allowing for easy transplanting without disturbing the delicate roots. Additionally, nursery trays often have drainage holes and are made of materials that promote proper aeration and moisture retention, which are crucial for seedling development.
Some ground cover options for small spaces include creeping thyme, Irish moss, dwarf mondo grass, and sweet woodruff. These plants are low-growing, require minimal maintenance, and can provide a lush and attractive ground cover in small areas.
