i have 2 quartz crystal that r about 7 pounds each
Quartz is very resistant to weathering. It sounds like you may have calcite. If you have hydrochloric acid, and put a drop on your rock sample and it fizzes, it's likely calcite. I've never tried vinegar, it may fizz? Can you describe the shape of the crystal? i.e. square, rectangle, polygon, pointed tip... Does it scratch glass? How does it break? ie. Jagged edges? Smooth face? Round half circles like some broken glass does?
It is completley white, and very splarkly. it is often used in landscaping.
Rose quartz is associated with all types of love, self esteem and forgiveness. This could be a hint towards why it broke. However, rose quartz naturally tends to crack and break pretty easily.
I know this may be a stupid question but I need to find an example of a crystal solid besides quartz.I also need an example of a amorphous solid if you have any suggestions....Thanks
I agree with BB's answer (B); efficiency, measured by total heat output, would be the same for both heaters. However, it's possible for a quartz heater to be less effective if any of its radiant power is directed toward a window where it could escape. My own experience is that radiant heat from a 1 or 2 kw heater isn't worth much unless you're pretty near it; a blown standard heater seems more useful in warming up a room. Heating the walls with radiant energy increases the heat loss rate compared to warmer air and colder walls.
to extract gold from crushed quartz using cyanide, how many grams of cyanide per kilogram of quartz should i add and how mach woter should i add to the cyanide?thank you
Quartz is silica, or silicon dioxide, SiO2.
What is quartz? what is it used for?
Let UNITs guide you; always USE THEM in your calculation to prevent errors quartz = SiO2 O atoms = 2 O/SiO2 1.40g SiO2/density SiO2 in g/mole * 6.022E23 atoms/mole = ? and how can you tell them apart in jewelry?

I have a question in Earth Science that I'm really stuck on ..In what way are the minerals Quartz and Galena similar? Please help!
You could buy a 32kHz tuning fork crystal, then scale it up. Have a lapidiary cut you a suitalbly shaped chunk of quartz, then deposit the electrodes using a vacuum evaporator. It won't be cheap! What do you want it for?
