FAQ

i'm making a science fair project and its on Ferrofluid (or a liquid like magnet) and i'm trying to create a generator by placing the liquid in plastic tubing. but the problem (obviously) is that is i don't seal the two open ends of the tube the liquid will drain out. what can i use to block the tubing?Oh almost forgot, my substance is a magnet so it can't be any material that can possibly conduct electricity.
i would probobly go with maybe a silicone based adhesive, caulking maybe? like what you use around bathtubs n such. it sets fairly quick, adheres to most materials and is waterproof. hope this helps.
Polyethylene tubes are a type of plastic tube, so they share similar flexibility characteristics.
Plastic pipe leakage can use plugging Ling?
The safest solution is to replace the leaking fittings. Off valve, drain, with PPR scissors cut Water Leakage parts of pipeline, PPR soup machine, with a direct it. The process is uncomplicated and the skilled worker will be able to solve it in 30 minutes.
I use a length of plastic tubing and after using it for a while (few months) it changed from clear to opaque. It had been exposed to heat, alcohol and water, nothing else. If you know why it changed colors please fill me in. Also, I would like to know if it is changed chemically that might effect things traveling through it or if it is merely a cosmetic change and I can ignore it for the most part.
If the plastic tubing was exposed to heat, then the resultant color change was most like due to a disruption in the chemical lattice of the plastic. A plastic is basically a polymer or group of polymers (polymer=same chemical compound repeated over and over again). When heat or another energy source is apllied, it has the ability to alter the polymer structure. Think of a polymer in similar terms as a crystal; all of the compounds in the plastic will align themselves in a similar way as the previous compound. When you do this with minerals, you end up with a clear or partially clear crystal. The same basic principal applies to polymers (plastics). Hope this helps!! P.S. some chemicals have the same ability to alter the plastic, same as an enrgy source..
Yes, plastic tubes do have limitations in terms of moisture resistance. While some plastic materials are naturally more resistant to moisture, others may absorb moisture over time or under specific conditions. Additionally, the design and construction of plastic tubes, such as the presence of seams or joints, can also affect their moisture resistance. It is important to consider the specific plastic material and construction of the tube when assessing its moisture resistance capabilities.
Im looking for plastic tubes like pvc, but clear. about 3ft in length. where can i find it?
I would check with a store like Home Depot, or Lowes, or other hardware stores. you might want to check Wall-Mart too.
why does water bend when put in a plastic tube?
Two reasons: 1. Water flow following the path of least resistance and hence it has to move within the tube. 2. When there is a difference in height of the tube it has to maintain the equal level at either end. VR
I went on vacation a year ago for two weeks and came home to a refrigerator that no longer has a working water spout. The ice machine still works and the the motor comes on when I place a glass under the water spout bit no water comes out? I do have hard water. Could it be blocked from calcification? I figure vinegar is my last hope. Please help.
Yes. That would be your safest option, other than getting the plumber out.
