Q:Is there like a Holy Nuclear missile silo for when Catholicism tries to take over the world or is there like a tunnel to Middle earth where the Pope fights Sauron? What is hidden in Vatican city?
Oh shoot - that's where we evil Catholics hide all the Protestants that we're torturing....haven't you heard? Oh, and it's true - we do hide the best toilet paper too.
Q:Should we continue to ban to building of 1,000 story skyscrapers in IOWA?
Who would need a 1000 story skyscraper.. Is that even posisble?
Q:how do people make dryed milk?
You mean evaporated milk powder, right? It is done in a large milk plant which has a dehydration tower, a big building which looks like a huge silo. Inside the evaporator are gas jets. I don't know if you know what a venturi tube is, but essentially a venturi tube is a small instrument that is small on one side and big on the other side in terms of diameter. Under pressure, the liquid is shot through the venturi tube. The pressure on one side of the tube is much lower and on the out-end side it is very high, and so the liquid is turned into a spray, a very fine mist. The misted milk spray then hits the heat of the gas jets in the dryer. This instantly evaporates the liquid from the milk and the dried powder falls down the silo to a collection point under the evaporator. This machine is called a Falling Film Evaportator for this reason, for larger particles are only partially evaporated at the top of the silo and as the particles fall down throught the silo, they hit more gas jets and continue to be totally evaporated by the time the particles reach the collection point. The answer to your question is, it is done in a large machine called a falling film evaporator unit.
Q:My Daughter is very upset that she has so much fodder in her silo and she dosen't Know how to get it out. It says examine your silo 2 get it out, but she can't do that.
You don't take fodder for feeding your animals stright out of the silo outside. You will need an animal shed, and on the northern wall in the animal shed is a brown box where you can get fodder to feed animals. To feed them you put them in the small compartments located around the barn. I don't think you would need fodder for anything other than feeding your animals or building though...

Q:I live in a rural area and we have two blue Harvestor grain silos. One has a 25 foot diameter and is 90 feet tall and the other is 4 feet from it with a 20 foot diameter and is 70 feet tall. I was wondering if it would be possible to mount a wind turbine on top of the taller one. I don't know much about turbulence though, if there would be too much? Or how high it would have to be off to clear the turbulence? this is my first try at it, I was going to try a treadmill motor, something small.
Hi Matthew. I have actually seen two silos with turbines on top. The main concern about turbulence is not with the silo, it has more to do with the terrain around it. Are there any trees or other structures that extend above the top of the silo that are within 200 feet of the silo? If the top of the silo has good exposure to winds, then it is probably a good place for the turbine. The other question to answer is whether or not the silo is in good structural condition. A home sized turbine will not put much force on the silo when it is operating, but there will be some force, and vibration. If the silo is masonry, meaning made from stone and mortar, are most of the mortar joints still good, or are there lots of missing spaces between the bricks? I don't know where you live, but if you want to learn more about this, I would suggest two things first. First, get a subscription to Home Power Magazine, the only periodical that really gets into the nuts and bolts of this technology. It is only about $25 a year, but they have articles explaining wind turbines, solar panels, inverters, batteries, and so on. Some issues even take all he commercially made turbines and list them with all the specs and other features, making it easy to select the one you want. If you subscribe, you can go to their website online and use their search engine to look for articles in the past that might help you out. Also go to the websites below, and check out the library for books. I'll list one, if you can't find it, just look for other books by that author, or on that subject matter. The second thing to do is get to one of the energy fairs listed in the calendar section of Home Power, they are held all over the globe. The best and biggest one is in Wisconsin each June, but almost every state hosts one each year now. We went to one 12 years ago, and now our home is completely powered by the wind and sun, it was very informative. Take care Matthew, Rudydoo
Q:What is a silo for anyway? I see them while commuting and never knew the purpose for the structure.
All silos are not tall cylinders. Some are piles above the ground and some are trench's in the ground. Upright silos, such as you are talking about are losing favor because they hold relatively little feed and with today's larger operations it takes a lot of them to store feed. Recently silage has been forced into large plastic bags laying on the ground. These provide good storage also.
Q:What is west, east, south and north of North Korea?
East shore.. They have missile silos pointed eastward that can reach south korea and japan.
Q:I have a plethora of pigeons in my empty barn silo and thought, why don't I catch them and use them for bird dog training? But, how do I trap them in the silo, and then how do I catch them in a 30 ft high silo?
I've caught birds in Havahart traps before. Wasn't what I was trying to do, but it's what happened. But any sort of cage trap can work, especially if they're used to being fed.
Q:... is surrounded by a hemisphere of radius r.a. Find a polynomial in the variable r that represents the volume of the quot;siloquot; shape.b. Find a polynomial in r that represents the total surface area of the silo.
A right circular cylinder whose radius is r and whose height is 2r is surrounded by a hemisphere of radius r. a. Polynomial in the variable r that represents the volume of the silo shape is given by V = pir^2[2r + (4/3)r] = (10/3)pir^3 ANSWER b. Polynomial in r that represents the total surface area of the silo is given by S = 2pir(r + 2r) + 4pir^2 = 10pir^2 ANSWER.
