Q:What is the double tiles of tiles? How to distinguish polished tiles from the surface and throw glazed tiles. What is the thickness of each? What kind of microcrystalline stone?
The difference between polished tiles and glazed tiles: ? 1, different specifications Polished tiles and cast glazed tiles in the size of the size of the above is also a certain difference, polished tiles are mainly used in the living room lights are more, the size is generally 600,800 tiles, and throwing glazed tiles are often 300 * 300 small Brick. ? 2, different colors Polished tiles of the color is relatively simple, not much change, the difference between the various colors of brick noodles will not be too strong, but the glazed tiles are not the same, throwing glazed tiles than polished tiles rich colors. Throwing glazed tiles are printed on the pattern after the shower glaze, the color to be more vivid, but also completely unrestricted, red, black, blue, blue and purple completely no problem. ? 3, different lines Polished tiles and polished tiles of the lines is not the same, the texture of polished tiles can not be very small, throwing glazed tiles can be done as fine as the needle and thread. ? 4, brick different Brick is the key to distinguish between polished tiles and glazed tiles, polished tiles are the color into the brick body inside, so the surface of the following 1-2mm brick body color and the surface is the same. And throwing glazed tiles are completely different, and will not penetrate into the brick body, look at the side of the brick, glazed tile layer is more obvious, it is obvious to see the glaze, if the brick surface is only a layer of a very Pu a color Layer is certainly a glazed tiles.
Q:I want to lay tile on a house I just bought. What is the difference between ceramic and porcelain tile and which one would be the best fit for my house? The tile is going to be in the living room, dinning room, and kitchen. Also, how much is it going to cost me for labor to lay down the tile? Total square feet is going to be around 600 sq ft.
Go to retail tile stores and they will show you the differences, and tell you which is better and why. It would take an hour to type basic information in here. Try using Google and search the topic. There is a tonne of information out there.
Q:I want to replace my wood flooring with porcelain wood like tile because i have a dog but my uncle who is a contractor said because of the house not sitting on concrete foundation ( meaning you can go under the house) i can only install vinyl or wood flooring again because tile is too heavy but um we have tile in the kitchen and restrooms and my other uncle who has a two story home has tile upstairs so i dont get it
Amtico, blows your pergo away!!
Q:Hi, I was wondering what type of tile is easier to lay down on a bathroom floor, large, single tiles or small tiles that are connected together by mesh. I have never done anything like this before, so any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!
The easties size is 12 x 12. Small tiles on the mesh are a real pain, each tile must be moved to get even. The tiles move around when you set in the morter. Tiles larger than 12 x 12 take extra care to keep level. Go slow.
Q:I am renovating, and have always loved white coloured tiles but am now starting to like these light coloured hardwood Tasmanian Oak Floorboards ....I have no idea on prices yet, what would cost more? and which one would look more beautiful??PS- i would NEVER put floating floorboards - they are cheap and nasty!
Hardwoods are classic. You can never go wrong with hardwood floors as far as resell value. I renovated two years ago. We have a 1500 sq/ft home. We did tile in the bath and hardwoods everywhere else. My husband wanted to tile the kitchen as well but we were talked out of it due to labor costs. Cleaning tile grout is troublesome, sealing it is ineffective if you have food stains or mud or something. My tile floors are very pretty but I regret it. Be sure to get real hardwood with NO laminate at all. Some hardwood floors are real wood on the surface but laminated onto a synthetic bottom. Be careful that way. Things to ask before choosing: How many times can they be refinished? Are they glued or nailed? (Glued are crappy, nailing is much more effective.) How do I clean them? (I use a steamer, no chemicals.) Will my subfloor support the hardwood? (we had to install a new subfloor). Oak and Hickory are the best HARD woods to choose from.
Q:Thinking of putting tile on front porch. It has a couple minor cracks. Is there anything that I can put down so that the Tiledoesn‘t crack in the future.
You definately need to fix the cracks or fill them. If you put tile over them then the tile will just crack in time. Using concrete quik set to fill the cracks, then a fine layer of thinset to level should do the job.
Q:What is the classification of tiles, what is the difference?
Tiles are divided into floor tiles, wall tiles and waist tiles. Floor tiles: according to the color is divided into imitation Spanish bricks, glass polished tiles, glazed tiles, anti-skid tiles and seepage polished tiles. Wall tiles: according to the color can be divided into glass wall, printing wall tiles. Waist bricks: mostly printed tiles. In order to meet the specifications of the wall, waist brick is generally set to 60mm × 200mm format. Tiles according to the process is divided into: glazed tiles, quintana brick, polished tiles, tiles, ceramic tiles. Glazed tiles: Brick on the surface of a brick. This brick is divided into two categories: one is made of clay; the other is made with porcelain clay, the current home decoration about 80% of the buyers choose this brick for the floor decoration materials. Quintana Brick: This is a glazed porcelain tile that has good skid resistance and abrasion resistance. Generally speaking, "anti-skid tiles" are mostly quintana bricks. As this kind of brick price is moderate, popular consumer favorite. Polished tiles: the whole body after polishing polished polished tiles, this brick is very high hardness, very wearable. Tile: This is a kind of high temperature fired ceramic tile, is the hardest of all the tiles. Sometimes polished tiles are scratched when the tiles are still safe and sound. The Ceramic tiles: also known as mosaic, specifications, thin and small, hard texture, acid, alkali, wear, no water, strong pressure, not broken, colorful and versatile.
Q:12x12 tiles, what size trowel do i use and how far apart do i space tiles?
For a standard tile (such as most 12x12) the use of a 1/4x3/8 ths square notched trowel. 99.9% of all 12x12 will require a sanded grout,NEVER an unsanded grout. This has to do with both tile thick ness , water absorption, tile body hardness and grout line size. You shouldn t use a grout line less than 3/16 any way for this size tiles. And any grout line over 1/8 , a sanded grout must be used any way. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
Q:i was pouring grout on my tile floor and it dryed too fast. how can i get rid of it?
You didn't mention how thick it was. You might be able to very carefully chip it off with a putty knife if thick. if just a thin layer try laying a very wet sponge on top of it, it may loosen it to where you can wipe it up. This is what you should have done in the first place. When grouting you do small section at a time, wipe the grout into the tiles with a sponge and then wipe up the excess and go on to another area. You can do about 3 square feet at a time. All ways have a bucket of water handy for this purpose.
Q:i mean i know they make tiles obviously, but how do they go about doing that exactly?
Hello Most of the tile makers now use dust clay(fine powder) .they have a standard 6x6 two part mould that they fill with a set amount of the powdered clay insert the filled mould in to a fly press of similar type of press remove from the mold decorate glaze and fire in the kiln. this is just to give you some idea. The traditional way is to use plastic clay that's wet clay that you can press into a tile mould by hand or a small press remove leave to dry and then fire when fully dry.You can fine a few help full books on the internet or the Library. Cheers Bob a Job
