Q:(Forgive me I have no clue about vehicles, a friend of ours mentioned the bearings might be going out. I assume he was talking about the transmission) Is this a slow problem? Does it need immediate attention? Anyone know about costs? And if I am wrong about what I am asking please correct me.*2000 model
Also, you never said what the problem was that you had with the truck. My psychic powers are not working today. Sorry. lol Take it to some small shops and get an estimate and also to see what is wrong.
Q:We just got a 98 cavalier and it makes a sound when we make a right turn. It also make the sound when we drive straight but you can barely here it. We were told by a family member that the bearings probably need greased. How do you do that? DOes it sound like the bearings to you? Thanks
Chances are that your cv joints are worn out and need replacing. You can not grease these and make them better. The cv joints are kinda like u-joints. When you turn your steering, it puts the joints in a bind, hence the noise... usually a clunking or popping noise. Might as well replace both sides at once... When one goes, the other will be right behind it... Good luck........
Q:Well, I was wondering: do all skateboard bearings have 2 sides? I looked at abec 7 or 8 bearings and they do not seem to have 2 sides? How do I know which side should i grease? Also, does abec bearings have a metal/rubber covering on one side? Thanks, if you can answer all these questions, i will give you best answer. Don't say, Get bone swiss bearings! They're better! I know they are, but I'm asking about abec 7 bearings. Thanks.
most of them have two sides. I believe that abec 7 bearings have two sides but i am not sure. google abec 7 bearings and that should give you the answer
Q:recently went to tire discounters to get some new tires, and they told me both wheel bearings were bad and my tie rod end was bad? me being a diy'r on most car things i said ill fix em, but they refused an alignment til my problems were fixed, though the wheel bearings aren't making any noise yet, i figured i would change them once i had the extra money to pick up a press and the bearings and shims i may need to press it in, if i replace just the tie rod end will they be able to align my car?
You can't, but if it is a rear wheel drive car the front bearing may be adjustable in which case you or the mechanic can take out the play. Play may also be in the balljoints which definitely need replacement before aligning. Wheel bearing play would be felt in 3 and 9 o'clock positions as well.
Q:Given 11 bins containing ball bearings, ten of which contain ball bearings that weigh an ounce a piece and the other bin containing ball bearings that weigh one and one tenth ounces a piece, determine in one reading on a numerical scale which bin contains the odd ball bearings.
Put 1 bearing from the first bin, 2 bearings from the second bin, 3 bearings from the 3rd bin, ..., and 11 bearings from the 11th bin on the scale simultaneously. There will be 66 bearings on the scale. Record the total weight of the bearings in ounces as W. The number of the bin containing the overweight bearing will be given by N = 10(W-66)
Q:I just bought a 1996 Dodge Dakota, and it has a right pulling problem. I just got done jacking up the front end, and i tried rotating the tire on the passenger side. The tire would not move. Since i am going to be soon tearing this vehicle apart could the wheel bearings be siezed, or does it sound like a stuck caliper?
It is likely a stuck brake caliper. You may have to knock the caliper off with a hammer after removing the bolts. Seized wheel bearings will make one h*ll of a racket. I have had wheel bearings seize before, but it locked up the front wheel while driving. I had to split the bearing race with a grinder and a chisel to get it off the spindle. It did not weld itself to the spindle however. The rollers in the bearing got wedged in the hub locking the wheel. I was able to reuse the spindle after replacing the bearings.
Q:i have rush abec 3 bearings, and i cant DROP IN on the mini ramp, i have to push in the middle because if i drop in my board will go over the coping, im wondering what bearings are good to go fast enough but slow enough to where i can control it when i drop in
???
Q:i have a double TT maintenance spray and im not sure if it is ok for lubricating my skateboard bearings.. http://www bearings .uk/tt-spray-400ml-pr-16366.html go at this link this have the picture of the spray im saying...is this spray good for bearings THANKS.
it may be good for internal bearings it sounds like it's exatally like wd-40 which isn't a good spray for bearings only because it leaves a residue behind that'll collect more dust and dirt and do more harm. You're best to get the silicone sprays like that bearing factory one, I know it costs more but it's a lot better and a can that big would last almost a liftime because it doesn't take much to lube a skateboard bearing, or even 8 of them.
Q:I have reds bones bearings and they were all fine until today. I got them over a month ago and haven't cleaned them. Today I ran over a pebble going fast and fell. Right after that my bearings on one of my wheels stopped spinning. I could ride but they don't spin when I spin them with my hand. I think something got in the bearings. It's both of the bearings in the wheel not just one. What could I do to check if there's anything in them? What do I do if there is? And how do I clean the bearings? What do I need? Thanks for helping!
I'd advise getting some lube for them, preferably bones speed cream. that will make your reds perform like super swiss. Just give the bearings a little clean to get the grit out, put them back in the wheels then take the little red caps off and put a few drops of lube in there. after that just give them a good few spins to work the lube in decently and that should be it.
Q:Was recently told by a friend that my front two wheel bearings needed replaced (actually, that the wiring for them was pulled right out of them - which in an 99 Alero requires replacing the entire system) after an ABS light had been on for quite awhile in my car. Furthermore, he suggested that I also needed to replace a pigtail in my car - though I do not know what that is (anyone know?). He quoted me a $750 price tag on the deal and being our friend, we assume that we are getting some sort of labor deal as well - but checking it out we found some sort of pigtail online but it was only $10. With $190 for each wheel bearing that should add up to only $390 + tax so we were a little confused. Can anyone explain what/how much a pigtail is actually worth and what would be a right price on this fix with without labor? I realize prices are slightly different all over the world - so if it helps, this is in Ohio in the States. Much appreciative!!!
sounds high to me, I have a grand am which is basically the same car and I got 2 wheel bearings( front ) for $136 and I put them in myself, The pigtail, I have no idea what they are talking about unless it is the connection end that goes on the abs sensor on the front which they are probably talking about, I would go to the junkyard and get one, only involves snipping 2 wires off and you have it, probably a .50 cent item in the junkyard.
