Q:I need some bearings that will not break when they take high impact.... Any help would be great
bones swiss are obviously the best, but theyre also around $50 a pop. if you want to spend less money, i would go with bones reds or fkd. i've used both, and theyre definitely good. the only ones you really shouldnt get, are lucky.
Q:I have recently purchased a longboard with abec 5 bearings. I have a regular board, with abec 7 bearings. I plan to use the longboard more, and i want to no if it will work to use the regular boards bearings for the longboard. Anybody know?
You probably know that the more bearings (in this case 7) the longer the board will role. It all depends on what you want. The best thing you can do is try out all of the possible combinations (and you only have two, so it shouldn't take that long).
Q:I'm sick of decent bearings costing $50+ for a set. So i started looking at industrial bearings from reputable companies like Fafnir and Timkin, and I'm gonna try putting on non skate-specific bearings cuz they'd be cheaper. BUT I need to know the outside diameter of the bearing and the inside diameter. Only I don't have an exact way of measuring the dimensions. If you know, please help me out! THanks!
i wouldn't do that if i were you. i don't skate long boards myself, but as i'm changing my set up every few months, the LEAST important thing is bearings. just get them from the skateshop, but don't bother with the decent ones. you'd be surprised that there isn't much difference between bones ceramics and the cheapest skateshop bearings with no brandname. i've also found, the more expensive, the easier they break.so don't bother with industrial bearings, save time by getting the cheapest bearings from a skateshop. +/- $10.
Q:Hey guys my differential bearings are worn out, could they be the cause of the loud noise i hear whenever the car is turned on, when im at a stop, in neutral or in gear the noise doesnt go away, its not the muffler either or flex pipe as they were both replaced. Also whenever I let off the gaz pedal at rpms from 1500 to 3500 the car shakes back and forth, could it be because of worn out differential bearings? engine mounts were changed so i know its not that. Thanks in advance! Car is a nissan altima 2000 manual.
IF IT STILL MAKES NOISE AT A DEAD STOP ITS NOT YOUR DIFF BEARINGS. how can they make noise if they are not moving? does the noise go away when the clutch peddal is pushed in or does the noise change sound when applying the clutch? if so then you got a throw out bearing gone bad. that is part of the clutch. if it shakes bad on take off then your flywheel is probably warped im guessing your clutch is wore out to. sounds like you need to see a technition and get it checked out. sounds like its clutch time
Q:I skate and im wondering if mixing bearings would make my board faster. I also have mini logo abec 5 and shake junt abec 7. Can they mix to be faster
Only if you took out slow bearings and replaced them with faster ones. If all your bearings run well, mixing them will do nothing.
Q:i wannn know to see if its a good idea to try :)
The gasoline will strip away the grease that lubes the bearings. It will make the bearings wear out faster if thats what you are wanting.
Q:I bought the trailer today. It's in fairly good shape but its been sitting in a field for about a year. I'm going to get new tires, but before I take the trailer any distance at all, I need to repack the ball bearings on the axle. I could probably figure all this out by myself, but if anyone has any suggesions or can offer any help, I would certainly appreciate it.
So far nobody answered your question, let me try.To repack the bearings you first have to remove the wheel and hub assy.from the axle.To do this first remove the metal cap at the center of the wheel, you will find a large nut with a cotter pin through it,remove the pin and remove the nut.The whole wheel and hub will slide off of the axle. The outer bearing will fall into your hand, the rear one wont fall out because of the rear seal. You can purchase wheel bearing grease at any auto supply store. You will now be able to see if there was water, dirt etc.inside the hub.Now you have to decide if just adding grease is enough or replacement is necessary. With your hand work the grease into the bearing and adding grease in the back of the wheel.Reassemble, when you tighten the nut back on do not over tighten, just snug, reinstall the cotter pin and replace the dust cap. Hope this helps
Q:What is the reason the inner ring of some roller bearings are tapered, while others are flat-bored. What are some of the typical applications for roller bearings that are tapered on the inner ring?
The tapered ones are made to take a side force. .
Q:I have reds bones bearings and they were all fine until today. I got them over a month ago and haven't cleaned them. Today I ran over a pebble going fast and fell. Right after that my bearings on one of my wheels stopped spinning. I could ride but they don't spin when I spin them with my hand. I think something got in the bearings. It's both of the bearings in the wheel not just one. What could I do to check if there's anything in them? What do I do if there is? And how do I clean the bearings? What do I need? Thanks for helping!
Here are some good links to visit. What I do is: Pop of the sheild with a small nail, or you could use a thumbtack Clean them with a reccomended cleaner Ex. rubbing alcohol Spin them pinching the middle with my fingers to remove dirt, Dry them, Put the sheilds back on, Wipe the bearings with the sheilds on, on a old towel to make them look new, And put some Bones speedcream in them, Put em' back on the wheels. Hope this helps.
Q:i have repaired the wheel bearings (outer) how do i do the inners?
The older replaceable inner/ outer wheel bearings come in a box with the bearing and it's race that the bearing turns on. You need to replace both the race and bearing. The old races have to be driven out with a brass drift and the new races driven back in. Take the wheel to a shop and they will install the new races. You also will need a new grease seal on the inner bearing.
