- Q: I want to get an underground fence but i cant figure out what the difference in the wire they use and regular insullated wire. What is the difference and why can't i use regular wire instead of the wire that comes with the kit
- There isn't anything special about the wire that comes with the kit, it is just wire. If you have already installed the fence and just need to enlarge the area you can use your own wire just make sure it is the same gauge wire as is already hooked up.
- Q: Some states allow the use of aluminum wire in houses in place of copper. If you wanted the resistance of your aluminum wire to be the same as that of copper, would the aluminum wire have to have a greater diameter than, smaller diameter than, of the same diameter as the copper wire? Calculate the thickness ratio of aluminum to that of copper.

- wow I have never heard of this amp until u mentioned it. the ratings seem good. ur best option would be to call sonic electronics have them send you a manual on how to wire this amp. they sell this amp. I mean u ask how to properly wire it. wire it to get power ? or to the woofers ? red wire + goes to your battery. black wire - goes to your ground (not your battery) to the frame of ur vehicle. then u need a blue wire, your remote this wire goes to ur stereo's remote wire it should be the same color or it will be marked. but if u do not know how to hook up an amplifier u should go to a professional shop due to the fact if u improperly hook ur amp up YOU CAN START A FIRE IN YOUR CAR.

- Outside wire would feed back to the telephone central office and will either be aerial wire, connected to poles, or buried. Either way it is not feasible for someone other than the telephone company to replace.
- Q: I have installed a new wiring harness on my trailer, and two new LED trailer lights. The tail lights work, both turn signals work, but for some reason, I do not have a brake light on the right side. Both lights are grounded to their own post, and I do have a good ground on the coupler of the trailer. If a turn signal and brake light in a 4 wire system are using the same wire (green in this case)- how can one work, while the other is not? Any good ideas? I really appreciate the help.
- Not all cars (imports) can run on a 4 wire system. (they look like they will work when testing or locating wires, but don't when all hooked together). Adapters are at the car parts store, but not cheap.I would first try running the trailer lights with one power wire touched to the three wires, then hook up a stabber type elec tester and see if the problem might be at the car circuit. Do the car lights work right? Would get a jumper wire and jumper the trailer to the car and each light on the trailer to the frame. You may be getting a back feed ground on the circuit somewhere. All the temp grounds will tell you where the problem is.

- Wire does not carry soundwaves, at least not unless the ends of the wire have tin cans on them, and the wire is pulled taut between them! Wires can carry electrical signals which can be used to reproduce the sounds that caused them. This is how sound comes from such as your stereo system's speakers. Maybe that's what you actually mean? If so, copper wires (insulated, of course) are what you want, and if the distance you run the wires is great, the heavier the wire (gauge) the better. If you are transmitting high power to speakers, the wires have to be capable of handling the electrical current involved.
- Q: i have an amp (sony xm 2002gtr) that says it requires 4 gauge wire..but they cost $100+ and i have plenty of 8 gauge wires. can i use two 8 gauge wires as a substitute for one 4 gauge wire?and also, i have my capacitor grounded to unpainted metal of my car AND the ground port of my amp..is that incorrect?
- Two 8-gauge wires combined are equal to a 5-gauge wire, but that should be close enough for that amp. Make sure each wire has its own fuse near the battery; 40-amp fuses would be a good choice. If you capacitor is connected to ground, and your amp is grounded, then you don't really need a wire between the capacitor's ground terminal and the amp's ground terminal. It doesn't hurt anything, though. If the only ground wire at the amp is the one that runs to the capacitor, then you're better off connecting the amp ground directly to chassis metal.
- Q: ok got the mute wire figured out thanks to yahoo answers people..now i was wondering what the [ ILL] WIRE IS FOR ,ILLUMINATOR FOR SOMETHING?..also which wires on the speaker wires are pos and neg one is solid ,one is solid with stripe..not sure which is pos or neg thanks alot steve
- first answer is correct, However, as long as you keep the solids and stripes consistent, it doesn't really matter if you hook them up negative stripe or positive stripe...just keep them all the same..
- Q: Why do some vehicles have more than one starter wire at the ignition switch?
- one for the solenoid and a second for the distributor. the one for the solenoid is only active in the crank position where as the other is any time the key is in the run position or crank.
