Q:Recently I took my car to a mechanic because of a clinking noise coming from the front left tire. They said it was a rock stuck behind the heatshield, they removed it, the sound went away. Now the sound is back (I live on a gravel driveway, so this makes sense.) I‘m wondering if I can remove the tire and get the rock out myself or it is more complicated than that.
Just be carefull use a good floor jack to lift the car up by the approved jacking points place jack stand under the car. Do not work on a car lifted only with a floor jack. Do not lift a car on the gravel surface. Removing the wheel and installing the wheel is simple but locating the stone might be difficult and it might be between any of the four brake shields.
Q:Obviously you can do it for trucks and SUVs but I was wondering if it has ever been done for cars.
There are a few different ways to 'lift a vahicle from suspension lifts to body lifts and you would have to see what companies have lift kits available for the 2005 Vibe. Usually suspension lifts involve installing taller springs/shocks which make the vehicle ride higher. Body lifts are where spacers are inserted between the frame and the body to lift the body off the frame. Body lifts will only work on vehicle that is a body on frame design (like a truck) instead of a unibody design (like a car). Usually cars are lifted to get more ground clearnace for driving off road and the ground clearance alos allows for larger wheels and tires to be installed. The Vibe is not really an off road vehicle so, that is why people wonder why you want to lift it.
Q:It looks like the back of my car is higher than the front, I was thinking I can take bolt cutters, raise the back, and cut about an inch off the spring and it will drop that far?If I do this, do I have to take the wheel off, or can I just cut it while it‘s lifted off the ground? Again, it‘s just an inch, or less.
Yes, if you cut the spring it will lower the car. I'm sure it would be much easier if you took the wheel off.
Q:I have a 1997 lincoln town car that i want to put 22 rims on but i dont want to have to change the suspension at all or lift it, can i do that, my granddad thinks it wont fit but im sure it will, need help please, if they can then need help knowin what rim offset and tire measurements to be looking for
They may fit BUT you will loose some of your braking ability.
Q:A hydraulic lift is lifting a car that weighs 10 kN. The area of the piston supporting the car is A, the area of the other piston is a, and the ratio A/a is 105.7. How far must the small piston be pushed down to raise the car a distance of 1.7 cm? [Hint: Consider the work to be done.]wrong check mark m
Wrong check mark m? does not compute. Ignore hint - it just confuses you as the mass of the pistons and frictional forces are not known. Compare volumes and assume the fluid volume does not change when it is heated up a bit. Big cylinder volume change going up 1.7cm is A*1.7 - same volume change in thin cylinder is x*a x/105.7*A eliminate A to get x105.7/1.7 cm
Q:I‘m 15 and my dad‘s teaching me how to drive We only own a manual car so I‘m learning on it! We practice in a parking lot that‘s mostly flat but has some hills. We pretend there are stop signs in random places to practice stopping and going. Whenever i stop on a hill I can manage to stop fine just when I start going again I seem to ALWAYS stall it. My dad says I take my foot off the clutch too quickly. Is there any trick to avoid this?
Hill starts can be hard for learners, I used to stall allot of the time. Keep handbrake on, slowly lift the clutch up until you find the biting point (the bit that pulls the car as you lift up the clutch) when you feel that try and keep it there and take the handbrake off (but not to fast) if the car isn't moving as you take the handbrake off lift the clutch up a little more. If you are on a steep hill and it starts rolling back, don't panic, just lift clutch up more but don't release more handbrake and don't.raise it, as you lift the clutch up more apply some accelerater to build up revs (try.keep revs on about 2k) this should stop you stalling so long as you don't lift the clutch up to fast. Now that you have the clutch on biting point, handbrake about halfway down and revs about 2k, lift clutch up more and release.handbrake but not to fast. It just takes a little getting used to, when you can do it, it becomes so easy and you wonder why found it hard in the 1st place ;).
Q:do you know where i can have someone do it? and how much it would cost? or if i were to do it myself, how long would it take to do it, and what would i need? Thanks!
Jeep Solutions Paramount California about $300 parts and labor, but I would call them for a good quote
Q:Daughter lifts BMW off father who was crushed beneath car, what do you think?
These types of things are nothing short of a miracle. A real, honest to God miracle.
Q:My car trunk lift supports barely keep the trunk up. I know they are filled with a gas or fluid. Is it possible they can be filled up to give them more strength? Who can do this? I hope I will not have to buy two new ones.
you can't refill them. They aren't terribly expensive, just get two new ones and stop worrying about the trunk falling down.
Q:How do these three forces: Drag, Lift and Downforce. Affect a formula one racing car? Thanks for answering!Have a great day!
Does you husband remember where he purchased it? The retailer may do an exchange. Glad you were not injured. SCARY!
