Sea-chest is a personal storage compartment. Captains cabin is where he sleeps and checks navigation charts. Deck rail stops folks from falling overboard. Kept on her course means holding a straight path to a destination. Wrongly set means that wind or water currents are not favorable for the course as set. Waterlogged derilict means an old abandoned vessel that has sat so long the wood has absorbed water. Abandoning ship means jump off fast! Clambered up the side means climbing the rope ladder to get aboard. Hoisted aboard is usually for cargo that is too heavy to be carried. Properly stowed is gear that won't shift during ship roll and bad weather. Hatch cover is a cover that must be secured for bad weather, and is watertight. Spirited away is normally either an abduction or a theft, but can also mean to leave stealthily, as in under fog conditions. At the heart of it could be a battle, or in midships, being the center of the vessel. Bows of a ship is a misnomer, as there is a bow and a stern, likely meaning the front and rear of the vessel. Q:how do you replace elevator hoist ropes?: Make sure the elevator is at the bottom of it's travel, and blocked against falling further. If the hoist rope is not broken, disconnect one end from the elevator. They make a tool I always called Japanese handcuffs that fit over the rope. It is a tool made of fine woven cable that when pushed on endways the inside diameter Increases, and when pulled on it gets smaller. If the end is not smooth, cut it smooth. Attach enough rope to the end of this rope with the Japanese handcuffs and engage the motor. When the new end arrives at the elevator, tie it off to whatever it is tied to taking out all the slack you can. Cut off the excess and tie off the other end and you are done.

Q:The electric gourd can only go down: The electric gourd will not only be inspected by the limiter. It is usually because the limiter cuts off two of these phases, not the upward movement. So we need to check the limit. Also, lack of phase is easy to judge!

Q:Ok I used the hoist last weekend to pull a cab off a truck i had to use my truck as well but accidently over extended the hoist arm causing the bar that raise and lowers to pop out the cyl. the cyl tipped over and all the fluid drained out. i popped the bar back into the cyl but how to i put fluid back into it so there is pressure to lift n again?: So go to NAPA and buy some jack oil, find the filler hole (small screw or plug) and with a tiny funnel fill it up. Extend and retract a couple times to check function and work out bubbles.
