the people who we bought the house from just polished the floors right over dirt...is there anything that can be done?
Try vinegar or white spirit on a small patch first
I recently purchased a product called Rejuvenate Floor Restorer to add some shine to my laminate floor as it had a few dull areas from heavy traffic. This product said it was safe to use on every type of floor and would not leave any buildup or residue. I even read several great reviews on it before trying it, so I guess some people had a good experience with it, but not me.
particular, and chilly water is counseled for wood via fact warm water can warp it. sooner or later, you could desire to apply lukewarm water so it might dry quicker. I also have a dismal hardwood floor and each so often mop it with heat black tea. The tea enables get rid of from the exterior without using harsh chemical compounds. i discover that it works greater perfect than vinegar. although, in the journey that your floor is a mild colour, i might advise a green tea instead, so the tea would not stain it.
Need to find other cleaner than pergo's brand cleaner that is unavailable to get floors clean and not leave foot prints behind after washed . also the stickiness always left behind
Have you ever tried the Swiffer Wet-Jet with their anti-bacterial, deodorizing solution? I use it for all types of floors..even the wood. It's either that...or get yourself a Sharp steam mop if it's a large area to clean...worth the expense and floors' germs are killed with the steam.
nothing too loud , but makes tile floors clean.
so you're looking for something quiet a used filter queen canister might work for you if you don't mind using a canister style vacuum if you would prefer an upright style i know Miele makes a pretty nice stick vacuum
Is it necessary to make wooden keel for solid wood flooring?
This mainly depends on what kind of installation method you are taking. Solid wood flooring has the following pavement method: 1) keel pavement method: that is, wood keel and steel keel pavement method, this is the need to do wood keel. 2) Suspended pavement method: that is, the use of moisture-proof film or moisture-proof pad to install, this method is more popular way. 3) direct paste method is environmentally friendly floor glue paving method. 4) Wool floor bottom method. This is the main installation method of solid wood flooring, the installation method is different, need different tools and materials. 1) Before the floor is installed, the parquet is in place. The installer needs to check the number of floors and the number of accessories with the customer first, and check whether there is any damage, and ask the customer to confirm the signature. Then, to confirm the amount of floor, the ground flatness, the use of auxiliary materials, wait until everything is correct, and then install. 2) After installation must pay attention to acceptance, mainly solid wood composite floor surface should be clean, no burr, groove marks, corners without defects, paint full, no leakage paint, laying solid.
Help? I have just moved into a realtivly new 4 bed house @ 9 years old. The main bedroom floor is very very creaky more so than i remember when we went to view. The main bedroom is the worst. My best guss is there is about 5mm gap between the tongue and grove floor boards and the joists in this room.My sons bedrooms are ok. Is there any fix for this? I was told cutting the floor up was an option but seems a bit extreme .Any advice most welcome... Many Thanks
If you do not have a carpet down you and the floor is just the floor boards it is just that the floor nails they have used have become loose. Buy some new floor nails and hammer down the places it squeeks. You should be able to see where the old ones are and hammer next to those. (you need to hammer into the floor joists). Use a hole punch to ensure the nail head is not raised. If you have carpet down then you can still do this but finding the joists is hit and miss. Becarfull and think about what might be under the floor, pipes etc.... If you hammer where current nails are in you should be OK.
I pulled up my old vinyl kitchen flooring (7 years old) and found that the underlayment is in great shape except that the original vinyl was just glued about 3 inches around the entire perimeter. I scraped the old glue as best as possible and it is almost perfectly level with the rest of the floor. Does it need to be perfectly smooth where it meets the unglued edge or is a slight ridge OK to keep it from showing through the new vinyl flooring? I do have floor "sizing" that I plan to use where there are any nicks or impressions. Should I use the sizing around the edges and taper to the good flooring or am I overdoing this project? I plan to lay new vinyl flooring this wekend. I'd appreciate any good advice. PS: I also tried sanding the old glue to take off any high ridges using 80 paper. Thanks
The smother the underlayment, the better the finished job. The floor prep in more important the actual installation. Please try to get the floor smooth before you start. you will be happier for years.
I put down a laminate floor 1 month ago, and when I walk across most areas the joints move up and down. I had a new sub floor installed prior to the laminate so I don't believe it's a leveling issue. There is an expansion gap on all walls and I'm taking the floor up because I scratched it.Would it make sense to put PL300(prefer this for cost) or flooring glue in the joints when I relay it?Thanks.
It okorder /... I hope this helps
