FAQ
- Can a car turn off due to a water pump. I am thinking of buying a car that the water pump needs to be replaced, everything else in the car its fine, it turns on lovely but after a little while it turns off, the owner says its because of the water pump. is this possible?
- I don't think so. Replacing the water pump on most modern cars is not the cheapest thing to do, though it's often near the timing belt which needs to be replaced every 60,000 miles too. I would walk away from this one. Doesn't sound right to me - or it better be a grand or two or three under blue book as you've got some repairs to do before you can drive it. The reason he hasn't replaced the water pump is because it aint' cheap to do so.
- vw tells me the pump is defective, bad water circulation. i noticed the fans did not turn on when it began to overheat. is that irrelevant with the pump being defective? i even drop the car cold(i started the engine and drove) within 10mins it began to overheat, but the fans did not turn on. is it just the pump? the fan switch is new, no fuses are blown. the radiator and fans are less than 2 yrs old. 2000 jetta
- You should've noticed the worn out tires before u even stepped foot in the car. Go to any tire shop and get new tires, they will balance them when installing the new ones and that will take care of the vibrating. As for the water pump going out, I agree that that shouldn't have happened at 27k
- Had my car in to the shop this morning, it's a 2000 Ford Escort ZX2. The water pump and radiator need to be replaced, and they said they can do it for $380. Is this a reasonable price? Also, if I don't get them fixed right away, am I risking a lot of permanent damage to the engine?
- yeah,,,if they are including labor YES. its a lot of work replacing the water pump....why does it need to be replaced? if your car was over heating then yes.. if you dont replace those parts..you can blow your engine...only if you been having overheating problems,,,and water pumps some times make a bird sound or cricket sound not exaclty but similar..it could make those sounds when the pump is going bad,,,...if the car doesnt have many miles...the pump might not be bad..the radiator is easy to replace.
- i need to know an estimated cost for changing this cars water pumpthanks..
- Too okorder i did this, and by doing so it saved me money, time, and the risk of getting ripped off.
- 30kW what is the flow rate of the pump?
- Estimated traffic: Q = nP/ (9.8H), =70%*30/ (9.8H), =2.14/H (m^3/s)It is estimated that the efficiency of the water pump unit n=70%, power P to kW as a unit, the head H to m as a unit, you go to check the head H is how many meters, into the formula can be considered the flow rate is how many cubic meters per second.
- looking for ideas and info to build a simple and rustic wind powered pump for a backyard pond. I don't want to use any elecricity and I would like to create something that once its made, will be trouble free and simplistic in operation. I esp. want info regarding the vane design and the method of drawing the water. I would appreciate any web sites, but I don't want to buy any pre-designed thing or plans.
- I suggest you buy one ready-made if you want trouble-free operation. Here in rural NZ they're common on farms. You can buy versions that stop pumping when your pond water has reached a certain level. They don't need any electric power and they work for years without problems. As you probably know, suction pumps can only raise water about 10 metres, but I think you can buy wind-powered pumps that push the water up from below. The vanes are connected to the piston at the bottom of the bore by a linkage.
- Hey all--I just paid $900 at the Volkswagen dealership to get my timing belt, water pump, rollers, and air pump replaced. Is that a good deal? Also, how does the timing belt replacement relate to performance? I noticed my car was a little faster than before (maybe it's because I was driving another car for 2 days).
- It is a VW, so 900 sounds about right. I would've done it myself though, but that's just me. The belt/pump replacement will not change your performance.
