- Q:I have an electric fire alarm system with a battery backup, and the last couple days I've come home from work, all 5 fire alarms are going off (My poor dogs!). I don't know what time of the day they start going off. They aren't chirping or anything, they are going off like the house is on fire. I replaced the batteries a few weeks ago, and right after I put the new batteries in, I turned the breaker off for a minute to reset the system (not sure if it actually does anything or not). My fire alarms also have a thing where you can take the battery out, and hold the test button to totally kill the internal battery. I unplugged each unit, and did the reset on each unit (while the breaker was on though). They are Kidde (FireX) model 4618 if that helps with any diagnosis. Thanks in advance for your time.

- there is a drain hose it's located against the fire wall on the engine side. right side af the compartment and but the way you can see it from under the car. you can unblock the passage. if you disconnect it it will drain in the car anyway 2) the heater core might be bad
- Q:Vehicle is 1983 Ford F150 4WDI am trying to remove the front spindle but it is rusted together with the dust shield and steering knuckle. I have removed the nuts securing the spindle to the steering knuckle. I have tried rust penetrant, and hammer/chisel at joint between the spindle and the dust shield. It has not budged. - Wood stoves as a primary source of heat are very very high risk. The risk is mainly due to chimney fires, when the furnace/stove is used frequently, the risk of chimney fire increases drastically and chimney fires can be hard to detect (especially when the furnace is not in a high traffic area of the house). Also, because there is no secondary source of heat, the insurance company looks at what will happen if you are not home. You don't very well want to leave the stove burning when no one's there tending to it, but how is the home heated? If there is no secondary source, and the home gets cold, that's when your pipes can freeze and things can get real ugly. They might also be questioning the age of the furnace/stove, if it's more recently installed than '79, make sure the company knows that, that can make a difference, there's less likely damage from age deterioration. Best thing to do, like you stated, is find out where the current owner is insured. This might be quite expensive due to the unique risk. Most companies, unfortunately cannot 'tack on a surcharge' since the loss amount can be tens of thousands of dollars. Lastly, one more thing to keep in mind. This risk can also depend on your Protection Class. For instance, in case of fire, if you are within 5miles to a fire station and within 1,000 feet to a fire hydrant, the likelihood of a total loss decreases, but if the home is located far from both, a total loss is much more likely. - Q:My dog is a pug, and if you didn't already know, pugs shed like crazy!!! Her fur is always everywhere and I let her go on my bed so there's always dog fur all over my nice down comforters. We also have two cats that have long fur and shed as well. I don't want to have to go to the dry cleaners too often and down isn't supposed to be washed in the washing machine or put in the drier, so the only way I get the fur off right now is just by airing it out (usually outside which is a hastle), and the fur goes flying everywhere else - including in my face and up my nose - so this is not a suitable solution. I would also use the lint roller for clothes and in the car, etc. I don't want to go out and buy just any old $1 lint roller from the corner store (which is my first instinct) and then come home to find that it's a peice of junk that nothing sticks to. So from your experience, what do you find is the ultimate lint roller?
