Q:Could someone tell me the procedure for removing & installing a water pump on 97 buick skylark 3.1L 3100 SFI?
Water Pump Removal Disconnect negative battery cable. Drain cooling system. Remove air cleaner (if necessary). Loosen water pump pulley bolts. Remove serpentine drive belt. Remove water pump pulley bolts and pulley. Note position of locate tab on top of water pump for installation reference. Remove bolts, water pump and gasket. Installation Apply thread sealant to water pump bolts. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Fill and bleed cooling system (fill reservoir and radiator, run engine until upper rad hose starts to become hot. Top off and replace cap) Torque Specs Water pump bolt................89 Inch Pounds Water pump pulley bolt .....18 Foot Pounds
Q:model # gg9002b serial # 65x626092 what year is it and what is the water pump number
The water pump is simply an impeller -- it's a tube of rubber which spins as the power shaft spins, and the tube has fins which push water through the engine to cool it. Take the old one to a boat store, and you will find one close enough. They aren't finicky, they just want water pushed through them.
Q:I have a 2005 Impala and it has been acting funny. Some morning the heat takes about 20 minutes to start working. The air conditoner has not came on once. The gage also takes awhile to start working and when it does it goes pass the halfway mark.I even notice when im sitting at a red light, i can feel the engine shaking a little. I have a appt to get it check and put on the machine tomorrow. I just want to go there with an idea of what the problem could be. Could this be a thermostat or water pump problem???? Help?
99%odds on thermostat (or combination of thermostat and presure cap) is problem! If pressure cap not sealing properly, it is possible that no water is being pushed into heater circuit (water part)-- Lack of normal engine temperature would just aggrivagte the problem! I have yet to see a waterpump that worked too good,- so that an engine ran too cold! Really,-- a waterpump that is bad would make the engine run too hot, - and even that is unlikely unless something is broken inside where it can't be seen......... Most (bad) waterpumps leak enough water so that engine overheats from lack of water !! The reason engine shakes is because it is running too rich, -- the computer thinks it is still too cold to drive normally so the encrichment valve puts in more gas than normal-- (this is equivalent of a choke on normally carbureted engines), -- which are now history because of computers! Have cooling system pressure checked (including checking pressure cap), and get thermostat replaced, -- this will most likely take care of your problem!
Q:1997 Chevy Cavalier, 2.2 engine. In the past 2 days I noticed that my temp gauge was reading a little higher than usual but not in the danger range. I checked and nedded to add coolant. Last night it started making a chattering or maybe klunking sound. As far as I could tell it was coming from the water pump but it stopped before I could get out of the car and look to see. Now the coolant is low again. Are these signs of the water pump being bad or could it be something else?
Sounds to me like you answered your own question. I would have the water pump looked at by a reputable mechanic. A thermostat doesn't make a chattering noise when failing. A water pump can make noise when failing. WARNING: MAKE THESE CHECKS WITHOUT THE MOTOR RUNNING! When a water pump is failing, frequently it will leak coolant from the impeller shaft (the shaft that has the drive pulley). Look for greenish or orange liquid leaking from behind this pulley. Also, try to rock the pulley from side to side. If the pulley moves, the bearing and seal are failing and the water pump must be replaced. Have it repaired soon. Replacing a water pump is much cheaper than replacing a burned up engine. Until then, don't take it very far and watch your coolant level closely.
Q:just changed the water pump on my lower unit installed the lower unit and started motor now there is no water coming out of the upper flow tube is it becouse the engine is not warmed up yet or is something not lined up ...........
It shouldn't take long for the water to come out. Make sure the site tube isn't plugged up. If not, check your installation out.
Q:Why my Water Pump is leaking again? It was replace 2 month ago brand new water pump?
if it was started with low water for some reason ,,change thermostat or hose ...to get the fan off hit the large wrench with hammer ,,,or fan is out of balance
Q:the pump is pumping hot wtaer from the hot water tank around the domestic hot water system, i.e to taps and shower.
Depends on the type of pump, but for your garden variety type pump, there is a impeller of some sort that is turned by the motor to pump the water. The actual shaft of the motor is not in contact with the water (except where the impeller is attached to the shaft). A common type of failure mode here is when the seals on the shaft (which keep the water contained to the impeller area) have failed and water has gotten past the shaft seal and degraded the bearings holding the shaft = seizing up.
Q:The truck is a 1982 Ford pickup F100. We didn't realize it was an F100 at the time and we put the F150 water pump on it. The water pump fits perfectly, but is this going to mess up the engine at all?
Here's the deal: F100 - F150 doesn't mean squat. The engine cubic inch displacement does. Both engines have to be exactly alike.
Q:i replaced the water pump and redid the timing belt. now when i start it, it sounds like one of the cylinder is misfiring and makes a chucking noise. do you have to reconnect everything together to see if thats the problem? the engine worked fine before i replaced my water pump. engine like vibrates at each chucking noise. could it be incorrect timing even when the engine starts fine? or is one of the valves bent which is causing the vibration and noise? i checked teh spark plugs and they are fine could if be bad coils? or is the crankshaft weared out? please help and thanks for you help about my situation.
Call or go up to your local Mitsubishi dealer, the techs should be able to show you a diagram or tell you where the marks are.
Q:Hi. This car is 66 chevy but the motor is a 1984 chevy 350 4bolt main stroked to 383. I think its an '84, might be an '85. I need to replace fan clutch and water pump.... the fan clutch is bad but manufacturer of the replacement parts says you must do water pump and fan clutch together. Is the pump a 66 chevy pump or a 350 small block pump? What about the fan clutch? Ok, and please help with motor mounts. do I use mounts specific for 66 model or specific to the motor?
?? I've never heard of a water pump that had to be replaced because you were changing the fan cluth?? Often they advise you to put in a new clutch when you change the pump, but you do not HAVE to. Anyway, a pump for a 84 85 350 will be the same -- doesn't matter if it is stroked or bored or however hotrodded.
