- There are a couple. You could jump off the roof of the building in pipeline or you can fall down the well in District, or even jump down one of the silo's in Countdown.

- They used steam traction engines to drive a spindle on a conveyor.There are pictures of such set ups in early agricultural books. Although the silo's weren't that high, the angle of the elevator wasn't that great. Then the blower was invented which still lifted the grain, and still driven by a steam traction engine. This is the first time Ive seen photo's of this set up. I have books on Cimbra equipment for grain and seed dressing, which all have electric motors attached. The first records for Cimbra, are about 1947. But, I have no information on how the grain was stored before hand. I suspect Jute bags were the main tool for storage, which gave all the vermon in the locality a free feed, when ever they wanted it. The place I work at have all the computerised high volume transfer units, with our average silo being 400 tonnes. A big change from the early days.

- Q:Salt silos can be found usually in areas where snow is prevalent in the winter months - like NY State, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Illinois etc. The ones I have seen are brown and round with one large open door on the side and the salt can be seen inside. The salt is used for the roadways during winter months. Actually I have never seen salt silos in any other shape. Thanks
- In St Clair Michigan is where I have seen the biggest silo ever.Huge and round. I guess they are round so the salt slides down easier,than any other shape? Isn't that what makes a silo a silo? The shape?
- Q:Silo's height is 12M, dia is 2.5M, total load is 80MT, silo is floor mounted and fixed with 4/leg 1000mmX20mm anchore bolt at the base plat. Ancore bolts are welded with the reinforcement iron. Thanks a lot.

- A silo is typically an airtight cylindrical storage area, usually used for feed but can be used for anything. You'll usually hear it in reference to grain, feed, or missiles.

- Area = Pi times r times r Radius = 20 ft + 10 ft = 30 feet Total Area = Pi * 30 * 30 = 2,827 sq ft Now subtract the area of the silo Pi * 10 * 10 = 314 The dog has 2,827 - 314 = 2,513 sq ft in which to roam.

- Well I can't see your figure. You need to have the radius of the hemisphere top that you speak of in order to get a real number answer. The question does not give the final capacity, but I get the idea. Anyway the volume of the cylinder is (pi) r*2 (h of cyl). The volume of the hemisphere is 1/2 a sphere or (2/3)pi(r*3). Add the two volumes together to get a total volume. So the height of the silo = (vol of the cyl)/(pi X r*2). Since you don't have all the numbers I can only solve the equations which will give you the numbers once you find the total capacity and radius of the hemisphere. Good luck
- Q:If you have, say, an unarmed nuclear warhead sitting in a silo somewhere, will it detonate a nuclear explosion if the silo is destroyed with conventional explosives like C4 or TNT? Would it detonate if it were armed?
- No. Technically, a nuke is detonated by conventional explosives. The warhead is surrounded by high explosives...basically a ball of explosives. When detonated, the explosives push on all sides top/bottom left right, etc at precisely the same time until that fissionable material reaches critical mass. If one section of the explosives does not detonate on time with the others, then there would be no nuclear detonation since the material needs to reach critical mass. All it would do is probably damage it and spread radioactive material around a bit, but no mushroom cloud or anything. At least, that's my understanding of it and from seeing documentaries on Fat Boy and the whole Manhattan project.
