Q:Was I supposed to lube the water pump or what. I really don't know what it could be making the noise now. But it goes away after about 5-25 seconds of running, what could it be?
If your car is a Chrysler product it is most likely the bearings failing in the idler pulley on the belt tensioning arm. I have replaced this after failure on 2 dodge mini vans. Don't wait too long, if it fails completely the belt will be ruined and leave you stranded.
Q:3 months ago I had to replace the water pump on my Jeep (for $600!!!). Now I have leaking again and they are telling me that I need a new radiator. I'm wondering how did they know I needed a water pump last time (it was leaking just like now) and not a new radiator like they're saying this time? I know nothing about anything, and I feel like I'm not informed enough to know what they're really doing. Is this common?
which may be a blown head gasket, or worse, a cracked block or head. with the engine cool get rid of the radiator cap and fill to the brim. depart the cap off, hearth it up and look ahead to a slow yet stable circulate of bubbles. in case you have a blown head gasket or a crack the engine will blow combustion gasses into the water jacket. in case you detect this get rid of all spark plugs and look at them heavily. the cylinder with the blown gasket could tutor discoloration or an infection on the plug. you additionally can do a compression attempt, or extra helpful yet a leak down attempt on all cylinders to locate the undesirable one. in case you detect the bubbles you will ought to pull the pinnacle. A blown gasket will happen as a discolored section next to a cylinder.
Q:I have a 1985 Jaguar XJ6 that runs great, that I was thinking about trading for a 1991 Alfa Romeo 164 that needs a water pump. Just wanted to get feedback from Alfa owners and find out how hard it would be to put a water pump in the car. Thanks
About $130.00 for the water pump (first link below). As for the difficulty, take a look at the second link for a good thread on replacing the water pump on the 164.
Q:water pump contents
That is your first problem. Once that works, turn it with a 1/2 in wrench and clamp the hose.
Q:My 93 Ford t-bird over heats and i really don't know what could be the problem, the radiator is working fine, and also the fan and the thermostat, i don't think is a head gasket because the oil looks alright with no contamination and there is no steam coming from the exhaust im beginning to suspect the water pump but the weep hole is not leaking. So does a water pump MUST leak from the weep hole if it is bad, or it could be bad and not leak? thanks in advance...
How To Test Water Pump
Q:Water pump. A drip on the edge of the pump or drip on the ground. Serious concern on which one?
if its starting to drip coolant from it and it isn't a gasket you need to replace it ,they don't last to long once they start to leak, you can look at it and tell where the leak is coming from,i have seen a few on occasion that was leaking from the gasket where somone had replaced them and not got a good seal back on it,but most of the time your looking at repalcing the water pump, depending on what its on it can be a big job to do,good luck.
Q:Suppose the liquid temperature range for the water pump is -20 .. 90 °C. However it should be worked under liquid temperature upto 180 °C. For this, what has to to be done?
The pump will work well if it can increase head to 10 bar. Also, I think it will affect pump alignment, so you must determine hot alignment dimensions.
Q:ive just replaced my water pump as i know it wasnt in good shape and was a big cause of my problems. but the new water pump also seems to make a noise once in a while like its dry and there isnt anywater or its having a hard time. the head is good and has an extra thick headgasket on it. my guess is i have a clogged radiator and it would sound reasonable as i have used head gasked sealant in the radiator and it has prob clogged parts of it. the other symptom is afater about 4 hrs of continuous driving it starts to over heat if im doing 70 bor more but if i drop back down to 65 it seems to stable out or in many cases go down all together. anyone else had thes symptoms. and will a water pump make noise if there isnt anywater to pump.
what is the 22r fitted in as most run a thermo fan assy which is fitted to the front of the water pump if you have this then most likely the thermo is either just about to seize or it's still turn's then its in freewheel mode the best way to check is when the motor is cold check and se if you have a thermo fan fitted if so out one blade at 12 oclock and spin with one hand if the blade goes down past 3 oclock then you will need to open the coupling this is a simple job you will see 8 phillips head screws remove all and crack open the coupling but before this is done go to your local toyota dealer and purchase 1x 08816 10001 silicone empty this into the coupling and close this will fix your problem
Q:I have a 1986 Camaro and it is overheating. Thermostat was changed and fan is working. When it over heats it doesnt loose any coolant. Hoses are hot. I dont see any white smoke. No milky oil. Car runs good except sluggished going up hills. Dont see any leaks. I have notice that a water pump I replaced 2 years ago is all rusted on the outside. Could that be a bad pump? Why would a water pump rust on the outside?
Water pumps have no protection so over time they rust, as do other underhood parts. NEVER replace any part 'till you KNOW the problem. You need to visit a RADIATOR SHOP and have your radiator looked at. Water pumps don't cause overheating, radiators do.
Q:I have septic tanks. My toilet flushing water is filthy and the water pump runs for a long time and sounds strange. I have turned the pump off for now but know this is not an answer but i was worried it would burn out or something. Do i need a part for the pressure pump? Please help any plumbers out there.
Oh, groan ...up at 5:30 in the morning with water problems! Well. I guess it makes life 'interesting! ...lol Your well is running dry. - It is what I suspect. - Had the same problem, long ago. First of all ...you don't have septic tank(s). - You have only (1) septic tank. You can't let your water pump run-on like that. - It will overheat and burn out. My water pump was $700.00 dollars! I'm suspecting your water recovery rate in your well is very slow. - Time of year 'possibly'. - Or your well was just not dug deep enough in the first place, to have much reserve water capacity. What looks like dirty water, is probably really actually only sand and silt, that your water pump is sucking up, when your well runs close to dry. There's a free remedy. Squeeze a clamp onto the rubber washing machine water hose. - To restrict the rapid flow of water into your washing machine. If you're watering your garden ...don't water for too long. - Or the well will run dry. I put a water timer on my garden hose, so it only watered my garden for 5 minutes, every half hour. Leaving it that way 'all night' and you'll wake up to a well watered garden in the morning! I'm sure this is your problem, - low water recovery rate in your well - because that would account for the water turning silty. Be ingenuitive ...and it won't cost a penny, or inconvenience. Trini ps. The water that is pumped into your toilet, is well water. The septic tank is where the well water flushes the poo poo to. pps. You're right in turning the water pump off while you wait for the well water to recover!
