Yes, plastic sheets are generally resistant to fading from sunlight exposure.
Transparent plastic swimming-pool covers called solar heat sheets have thousands of small air-filled bubbles that resemble lenses. The bubbles in these sheets are advertised to focus heat from the sun into the water, thereby raising its temperature. Do you think these bublles direct more solar energy into the water? Defend your answer.
The best cover would be as the one described but with a black underside which would absorb the sunlight converting it to hat which would be transferred to the water. The air bubbles do 2 things, They make the cover float and they act as a heat insulating layer preventing the heat of the water escaping. Their efficacy as a lens is doubtful.
what are the plastic sheets called that soldiers sleep unter when sleeping outdoors?
Two man Pup tents. Each person carries one shelter half. And they are rubberized plastic for flexability and endurance. Each shelter half has a hooded head hole and can be used as a pancho.

or what? the application for college asks for photos in a loose leaf standard-sized portfolio, i'm assuming this means in a 3-ring binder and with clear plastic sheets that i buy separate. or am i wrong? this is important : )
Hummm... I have never heard that terminology applied to a portfolio. Here is MY take on it, but I suggest you contact the school to find out for sure. I don't think it means a typical 3 ring notebook with little office type 8.5 x 11 flimsy sheet protectors. Go to a good hobby supply store, such as Hobby Lobby or Michael's. There are plenty of very nice album covers there that mount sturdy plastic sheets on 3 posts. These are used for album creation, scrap booking, or portfolios. Just look around, you will see what I am talking about. But again, I may be wrong on this. You really need to get in touch with the school to find out for SURE. Yes, it is important, and that is why you should not be putting all your trust in an answer here. steve
