I have an apartment building that has mold in it. I'm trying to do everything I can to increase the airflow. Sure, the tenants might have to spend a mint on heat, but if it improved the air quality, maybe it would be a good idea.

I doubt that is your best option. Check the roof for other venting souce like soffit vents, etc or even install an exhaust fan. Also, if this is a multistory building especially, look for other sources of mold nearer the affected areas. There are all kinds of ways mold can flourish - all have to do with moisture, but many if not most have nothing to do with airflow in the roof.

The roof would not be a tax deduction because it was part of your living area already and this is ordinary maintenance. But the insulation could have a local rebate or a general rebate involved.

i'm designing a house it quite is a retangle on the 1st floor with an L shape on the 2d and installation into that L i choose to have a greenhouse related. My plan is to apply 2x10 or 2x12s for my floor joist that way i can insulate the ceiling of the room it is under that and the two partitions that are related to the greenhouse. no longer a lot to learn any warmth from it,yet to have plant life. If i choose to get any image voltaic benefit illl in simple terms open the door to the domicile

I live in central florida. I plan on installing R-30 insulation to the floor of my attic. How effective is it to install reflective insulation to the attic on the roof side? Is it worth the price?

No it is not EVER safe! Roofing material needs to breathe. Anywhere that insulation is applied to the underside of the roof deck the roofing material will warp and then leak. You have to have a cushion of air between the underside of the decking and the insulation

All the answers are OK, BUT nobody has said anything about the over hang of the house. This is not insulated and when the water runs off it comes to the roof edge and then freezes. To get away from this do what I did and move to Florida, If that is not possible get the special heat tapes for roofs and install in a "V" configuration and that will help a hole lot. Hope that this helps you out.
