I have a steel support beam can you remove one of the poles . the steel beam set on sender blocks on both side of the foundation. I have three steel beams support beam across the basement,I just want to remove one pole, can that be done.

Carbon steel is a generic term. There are many different grades of carbon steel consisting of several different components of various amounts, and there are different types of treatment the steel can go through that changes it's quality. Carbon steel swords are a step up from the crappy stainless steel swords, and other alloys. Sword quality completely depends on the smith. 200 layers doesn't mean there won't be any imperfections. Sword makers make mistakes, especially the lesser experienced ones. Look into the maker(s) of the sword you're looking to buy. Find information on them before deciding. Carbon steel is the steel to have, but that doesn't exclude good or bad quality. Sharpness will depend on the the steel and the smith.

We have a stain from a pot or bowl in our new expensive stainless steel sink. It looks like a water mark that happens when you leave a glass on a table without a coaster. It's a mark in the shape of the bowl or pot that was there. We left it there overnight:( It's not rust either. Help!

use bar keepers like some recommended , then polish with pledge furniture polish, sounds weird, but it brings back the luster to stainless and helps prevent marks if you do it again, wipe down dry and use a rag with pledge every time you finish in the kitchen to keep your sink beautiful for years to come

Stainless Steel is the marketing name. For truth in advertising, it should be called Stain Resistant Steel. It should be easy to scrub rust away with an SOS or Brillo pad. To prevent rust from recurring: * thoroughly rinse all chloride containing soaps away * scour the sink at least weekly to remove any residues * if the water source has high mineral content—especially iron—more frequent sink scouring is needed, plus towel drying the sink. * don't allow salt to remain in the sink—rinse it out

Stainless steel knives, sinks, etc.may or may not be stainless steel all the way through. The question arises however, what Quality of stainless steel? For steel to be highly rust resistant, a minimum of 12% chromium must be added to the iron along with carbon (for hardness). Good food-grade stainless also is likely to contain nickel, niobium, molybdenum, and/or titanium. Victorinox has a pretty good reputation to protect so I would expect your blade is still stainless. Some good old American brand names however have been sold to marketers who outsource manufacturing to China and scrimp on the chromium and nickle content in their stainless products. That is why you can spend $50 at Lowes for a stainless steel barbeque tool set of fork, tongs, lifter etc and find them spotted with rust within a few months.
