1.Description

Aluminium foil (or aluminum foil) is aluminium prepared in thin metal leaves with a thickness less than 0.2 millimetres (8 mils); thinner gauges down to 6 micrometres (0.24 mils) are also commonly used.In the United States, foils are commonly gauged in thousandths of an inch or mils. Standard household foil is typically 0.016 mm (0.63 mils) thick, and heavy duty household foil is typically 0.024 mm (0.94 mils). The foil is pliable, and can be readily bent or wrapped around objects. Thin foils are fragile and are sometimes laminated to other materials such as plastics or paper to make them more useful. Aluminium foil supplanted tin foil in the mid 20th century.

Annual production of aluminium foil was approximately 800,000 tonnes (880,000 tons) in Europe and 600,000 tonnes (660,000 tons) in the U.S. in 2003.Approximately 75% of aluminium foil is used for packaging of foods, cosmetics, and chemical products, and 25% used for industrial applications (e.g. thermal insulation, cables and electronics).

5.FAQ:

1)what is aluminum?

Aluminium (or aluminum; see spelling differences) is a chemical element in the boron group with symbol Al and atomic number 13. It is a silvery white, soft, nonmagnetic, ductile metal. Aluminium is the third most abundant element (after oxygen and silicon), and the most abundant metal in the Earth's crust. It makes up about 8% by weight of the Earth's solid surface.

Aluminium metal is so chemically reactive that native specimens are rare and limited to extreme reducing environments. Instead, it is found combined in over 270 different minerals. The chief ore of aluminium is bauxite.

Just simply soak them in waterYou need to do it for at least 30 minutes to keep them from burning when you put them on the grill.
Q:Let's assume you have a 1quot;x1' section of t6 aluminum round bar, and you also have a 1quot;x1' section of 304 stainless round bar, which one is stronger? Im sure the aluminum is lighter, but I've also been told that since its t6 aluminum, its also strongerFact or fiction? Also, what is the weight difference?
Purely on tensile the T6 will be close to but not equal to 304, see first referenceSee second reference for a more comprehensive comparison between steel and aluminum.
Q:I have a 305 sbc I just bought and I'm gunna build it and put it in a 240sxI took the motor apart and removed the pistonsMy plan is to bore out the cylinders and obviously install bigger pistonsNow I took a look at the cylinder walls and they are in pretty good shape but I'm still going to bore it outI have been in the import game for a while now and I know that they mostly all have cast aluminum blocks and they use steel cylinder sleevesMy 305 is a cast iron blockSince its cast iron block, does it have sleevesThe only reason I ask is when I bore the motor, am I going to have to install sleeves as in a Honda? Long story shortDoes a older cast iron v8 block have cylinder sleeves or no.
NoNo sleeves in the gen 1 small block or big block chevy V8 engines(thats 262, 265, 267, 283, 302, 305, 307, 327, 350, 400 small block or 348, 366, 396/400/402, 427, 454, 502 big block) The max over bore one a small block is only 0.060 and only about half of then will go to thatI sonic test all blocks after .030 to make sure they have enough wall thickness to go to .040 or .060 over Keep in mind, boring does NOT make powerYou might gain 5 to 10 HP at bestBoring is done to true up and clean up the cylinder walls The 305 is not the 8 for performance useIt's bores are too small to breath up higher in the RPM bandA 4.000 bore engine like the 350, 327, 302 is a much better base to start with And before you ask, no you can not bore a 305 out to a 350 or a 4.000 bore size.
