Q:What is good material for external wall insulation
Now the external wall insulation are selected fire materials suggest you use a little better firewood rock wool board
Q:I'm thinking of adding a ceiling to my porch to create an insulation space (the roof alone radiates a lot of direct heat in the summer; the porch otherwise is open) between it and the roof (corrugated fiberglass) but I'd like to still be able to see the roof as I've already painted the roof's interior and like how it contrasts with the supporting frame's color.I'm also looking to paint the exterior of the roof to better waterproof it (some leaks where previous owner screwed it in) and to better reflect light to further reduce heat. Any suggestion on paint or would it be better to just replace the roof entirely with better material? Thanks!
You can many ways could go.
Q:I had a stucco like substance on my bathroom ceiling that was peeling and falling off. I scraped it all off and found a layer of pink paint beneath the stucco that also was peeling in many spots. Underneat the paint is plaster that has some spots. I have an exhaust ceiling fan in the bathroom but don't think it works terribly well. I am considering scraping the remaining paint off then filling in uneven spots and corners with spackling compound then painting over the whole thing again but I am concerned that the spackle will not adhere well in the spotted areas. Does anyone have any recommendations?
You can purchase mold killing paint in a number of hardware stores. Go ahead and scrape off the remaining paint, then paint it with the mold killing primer (Kilz), then paint normally. As for the patching: Spray the affected areas with a mildewicide, and then spackle. Paint with mold killing primer, and paint as normal. You might think about replacing the fan as well.
Q:Waterproof acceptance how to accept kitchen and toilet waterproof is done?
Fire-resistant paint, aluminum-plastic board, fire board, and fire-retardant woodworking board,
Q:We recently purchased a condo with an unfinished walkout basement. Two walls above grade have fiberglass batts with a plastic vapor barrier. The ceiling has exposed fiberglass batts. We have no immediate plans to finish the basement, but I will have a washer and dryer down there. There is an electric blower to keep the pipes from freezing, but no other source of heat. I am concerned about exposure to the fiber from the ceiling batts and am wondering if there is any covering I can use to encapsulate the fiberglass, or would removal be the best option? I heard that to cover in plastic would not be a good idea because of condensation. We live in a cold winter climate. Thank you.
Short of a dropped ceiling, you might try stapling kraft paper or the such over the fiberglass. Lets the insulation breathe, but covers it up.
Q:Bathroom waterproof well, why would water leakage?
No, or waterproof is not done well
Q:My bathroom because of a variety of pipelines have been well, if the installation of tiles, then all the re-waste and then get, very troublesome! I would like to ask you there is no one can brush directly on the bathroom wall paint, asked to take a shower when the cold water will not fall in the above, hot water rushed in the above will not have any reaction. Have a friend please know please! Thank you!
Toilet brush waterproof coating precautions 1, pay attention to the next to the water pipe to be careful, you can brush a few times, or even to the end there is no residue directly into the tube around. This place is easy because the brush is uneven, and seepage. 2, the walls around 30 cm brush, shower area brush one meter eight, the width of the shower area to the limit. 3,24 hours of closed water test, you must go downstairs to see if there is leakage phenomenon, no words, paste tiles.
Q:hey. i am moving my room into another room in my house. The only problem with this room is that the ceiling is quite old and one part of it fell off. I need to fix this part that fell off. I think the whole ceiling is plaster i guess but underneath the plaster are these really skinny wood boards with something that looks like cement between them. Can i just do the standard drywall fix with a new drywall piece and some mesh and can i nail the drywall into these boards? I also need to peel ugly wallpaper off too to paint it. If i could just fix this part of the ceiling, things would be great. Oh, the whole is like 3 feet by 2 ft so how much would the drywall be to fix it. i cant get it done by a proffessional because i have no money and my mom will by me the drywall. A lot of help appreciated. thanks.
Your ceiling is called plaster and lathe. You can just purchase some plaster to fill in the hole. Build it back up in several layers.
Q:Not sure how to spell something that sounds like "ah-spec-tice" please tell me where I can get into on aspectice.
if you mean the bumpy stuff that is texture, (or maybe older ceiling tiles) then it's 'asbestos'.... the only way to be sure is to have the paint and texture tested.... look up 'asbestos removal' in the phone book, call them and ask where to have test done.... if you have it, it's a stinker to be rid of..... we have it and have decided to use the thinest sheetrock and hang it over the old ceiling rather than remove the 'popcorn' texture...
Q:Our basement bedroom does not have insulation in ceiling between joists but it is possible to insulate from another area that is not finished but I would have to use the insulation which is blown in between the joists. Is this a good insulation and is it practical to do for noise reduction? Otherwise, we would have to tear out the ceiling in the bedroom and use the fiberglass insulation. Do you have any other ideas or suggestions for noise reduction? This is a new home.
You wouldn't be able to poke in Fiberglass that's for sure. Also it doesn't absorb that much sound anyway. Blown in wouldn't help that much either (after a couple of years it settles anyway). You appear to be looking for sound proofing. There are many different kinds of ceiling tile out there and you should check out as to which works best and include wall material too as just the ceiling alone may not do the job well enough plus you would need to do the door too. (There isn't much you can do about the windows unless you block them). Best of all check out a building materials store or someone who has done something similar. Good luck!
