- Q:OK so im painting my walls like a grid art painting, but im painting them on big poster board so i can change it when i want... good idea or no? i have 4 walls and a little wall for my door and every walls going to be different and when its done its going to tell a story with pictures ....do you know what kind of paint would be best? for the poster board? is this a good idea?
- So what you're doing, is using large poster bristol board, and on each, you are painting images, that in total, creates a story or day in a life scene, poster paints or craft acrylics may do, maybe do a set of paintings that explain you whole day, or week, or year, maybe do a walk-through on one painting, and each piece is one step, the final piece complete, maybe do a whole vine that grows from one board into the next, and each board has a flower, maybe do a typographic set of words, that in total create the image that words represent, maybe do a set of colors, each one blends or creates contrast with the next, maybe do a sudoku with colors in checker board so there are 9 colors but align like numbers maybe do a black & white design, and one color on each board, that represents something personal, maybe do a different grid, circles or triangles, and create a mosaic mix of time sequences, maybe do a floor or ceiling design on walls to turn room on side or end, maybe do a set of hair styles from top to bottom, or giant makeup-kit, hundreds of nail polished designs, have fun mostly, :) ..

- If they are the ceiling tiles that lay in a metal grid that's easy. Pick them up and drop new ones in. If they are the smaller ones that staple to the ceiling then just pull them and restaple new ones up. If thy come down hard you can take your utility knife and cut around the perimeter and then replace them . If they are not bad but just stained you can repaint then with a stain blocker paint. - Q:I have a suspended ceiling that is 2' x 4'- the guy at Lowe's told me I can use the USG Lace 12 x 12 tiles to interlock to have 8 of them fit in a grid...is this actually possible? Everything I have seen online says that those are to staple or glue up- not to be placed in a 2' x 4' grid.

- Q:I recently moved into my mom's finished basement, and I would like to put up a wall, with a door, for more privacy, but I'm not sure how much it would cost. I know it's hard to estimate the cost for something like this, but I'm just looking for a price range? The wall would be approximately 8 feet long, with no electrical, and a door. The only thing I think may cause a problem is that the ceiling is a tiled ceiling, which I'm not sure if a wall can be built around the ceiling, or not? If anyone has any suggestions, it would be a lot of help. The main reason for putting a wall up is because my step father is allergic to cats, and I have two 8 month old kittens, so I'm mostly concerned with keeping the cat hair and dander from making its way to the rest of the house. - About $200 in materials. Use light gauge steel studs. Fasten the top track to the suspended ceiling grids. Fasten the bottom yrack to the floor with concrete fasteners, or wood screws if its a wood floor. Good luck with your kitties!
- Q:While I won't get into the reasons why, I ended up drywalling my walls in a small sitting room in my basement before doing the ceiling. The walls have since been painted. What are my options for installing drywall in the ceiling and what types of roadblocks may I encounter when doing so?
- With no offense, OOPS. In any case it isn't a capital offense crime. After installing thousands of sq. ft. of drywall I offer that the process will be much the same as if the walls were still just studs. Certainly a helper or two would be nice, but the job can be tackled by a single, with some effort. If you have two like sized step ladders they can help. You can make braces from 2 x 4's to hold up a sheet, once you manage to get it up. The braces can also be used to boost: the sheet to the ceiling then wedge/hold it in place. Once screwed to the rafters/ joists all you need do is tape, mud, sand, and eventually paint. If you happen to NEED it white you can mask off your walls at the meeting points. I've also applied thousands of gallons of paint and have a suggestion. Assume your walls are a color. It is a trick of the eye perhaps, but glaringly noticeable to anyone if the painter didn't have a steady hand, and happened to get color up onto the ceiling. The better process for a DIY especially, is to cut the ceiling down onto the walls, and then paint the wall color to within 1/16th inch of the ceiling in a masked, straight line. - Exposed commercial HVAC has different requirements than regularly installed ducting. Most of it has to do with ridged ducting, proper insulation so that the tubes do not collect water vapor and cause a drip that people slip on. Best to check with your local permits and building codes office for anything particular to your area. If you remove something against code, you could be fined, shutdown till it is fixed or have your Certificate of occupancy revoked.

- I think you are reffering to what is called a drop ceiling or sometimes a grid ceiling. If that is the case the panels are made from mostly fiberglass now and some older ones are made of fiberglass and wood fibers ( cellulose ) .home depot can find a good installer at a reasonable price in your area. IF you are near northeast ct I know of several contractors that do that type of work IM me for more info
