Q:I have to move about 5 inches of dirt with a length of probably 15 feet and a width of 10 feet. Is there any other way that is easier than a shovel and a wheelbarrow?
Not really, unless you happen to have a conveyor belt handy. It won't take as long as you think it will if you just keep at it steadily.
Q:Working in Dreamweaver want to give my pictures effect like in the link below. Please check when i roll over my mouse on any pic it comes in bigger size. How can i do that?
easy - there's a function for it in dreamweaver: just select the image you want to change and give it an instance name, to make things easier. now select the image of the menu item, and open the behaviours panel. select the swap image option, then its pretty self explanetory, select the image you want to swap (the one that you named) and then select the new source. You can easily get help on swap image, and most other functions in dreamweaver by hitting f1
Q:does it help cost that i dont need an electrician, i own the property already, and i have a cheap excavator? or are these just minor things?i'm extrememly new at this and Im trying to cut costs if possible. and are wood floors cheaper than having carpet put in? any answers to one or all of the questions are greatly appreciated!
Beware of the hidden cost of doing it yourself. Being an electrician is not the same as being a subcontractor and certainly not a general contractor. As a home owner, you do not buy as cheap as the general contractor. You cannot coordinate the subs the way the GC coordinates it. Getting every one on the job in the right schedule takes knowledge and clout. If not it is lost time and money. So you build a little and tear it down a little and every time you do that it cost you. Now while your fiancee has to make a choice between paying attention to the house (like pulling permits, ordering materials, waiting for inspections, chasing after subcontractors who doesn't show up etc), and his real job, his earnings takes a beating as well. I suggest your fiancee talk to a general contractor he works with and negotiates a good deal. He can still do the electrical part but let the GC handles the rest if this is your first time. By the way, carpet is a lot cheaper. Wood of course looks good. It depends on your budget and personal taste. If money is tight, do carpet now and later put wood in when more money is available. It is fun when you are chasing a dream. Good luck.
Q:Farmers and excavators, where do you find maintenance manuals cheap for your machines?
Library!
Q:We are having a new concrete floor poured in our basement. There are two small rooms divided by block walls which are not bearing walls. The excavator told me that if these walls are filled with cement it would be painstakingly hard to demolish them. So I would like to know how I could quickly determine if they are hollow or filled.
Drill holes through one of the blocks. If they are filled, you will have to work hard all the way through. If not, you will feel the drill go from the block to fresh air, then back into the block. Drill one fairly low down the wall to start with. It's less noticeable if you then decide to leave the wall in place, and drill holes can be easily patched with cement. Even if the blocks have had concrete poured in, if you are prepared to do a bit of work, hire yourself a SDS drill, or similar, and attack the joints. They will soon give way. If you take the wall down a couple or 3 courses at a time, the blocks will break up as they hit the floor. Please double check the wall is not load bearing before you start any demolition!
Q:I can rent a small/medium sized excavator. not a mini, but not a huge one....will use it mostly to dig out stumps and move some boulders, but do you know if its capable ot pushing over pines and birches up to 6 to 8 inches in diameter? Id love to just level clear an acre or so..... Thoughts?
You don't say where you are or what kind of soil you are in, but you should be okay getting them out with that equipment. Most of the roots will be in the top couple of feet of soil and mostly within the dripline of the tree (some pines spread out a little wider, but not enough to make a huge difference). I would start by ripping the roots and digging a hole on the side where you want the tree to fall, then moving to the opposite side and pushing the tree down with the arm.
Q:Can you dig down straight always in the same diameter? I mean if you dig down in 10x10, will you end digging in 10x10?Only theoretically. Only serious answers.
Do you mean a rectangular, 10 x 10 hole? If so: No... at least not very deep. The excavation wall in most earth materials loses structural stability, and so excavation below some practical depth must be sloped to prevent failure. Even in a very competent rock, you cannot go very deep... I'm also neglecting the practicalities of the usual excavation equipment, like a backhoe or excavator, which are limited by the mechanical-arm length and geometry. I guess if you wanted to dig a 10 x 10 hole by HAND (or jackhammer or something), and you progressively reinforced the excavation walls above you as you went, then yes, I suppose you could go pretty deep. OSHA might have something to say about it, but I'm being theoretical as you asked, or semi-theoretical. Now, if you are DRILLING, so that your circular boring is 10 units (inches, feet, whatever) in diameter, then your hole stays more or less the same diameter, although there is wallow-out at the top, and maybe some small percentage of variability throughout- depending on the competence of the earth-material. Even then, you would case a deep boring to prevent wall-failure when you withdraw the augers. What you case it with depends upon your purpose- steel, PVC, cast in-place concrete, whatever. There are also cool boring machines that can drill lovely, round holes of consistent diameter through rock. There's probably plenty of other tech that I'm not experienced or familiar with with, too.
Q:hi,i would like to know if my 2 children and my wife would have a better life in france than the uk?i am a hgv driver/excavator operator and i am looking to life and work near to brittany??thanks
Unless you live in a war zone or some thing then life is how you make it.
Q:my hydraulic excavator SK04 is facing a sudden drop of pressure just after the engine heated up. Initial measured pressure was 4000psi but after half an hour drop to 2000 psi. Main release valves readjusted but no effect. The Arm Boom drop by itself to the ground even without opration. It occurs about a few hours later. Entire excavator has lost its power after engine heated up.
Have you tried cleaning the hydraulic oil filters? Sounds like they're clogged up.
Q:My truck smokes a white or blue color, even when it is warmed up. Should I just turn the fuel up a little or is there something else like timing ect...? Also, when I start it up, sometimes it will run fine and then randomly start shaking and stall out and will be SUPER hard to start. I use this truck for mostly just towing little things such as new holland skid steers, compact tractors, mini excavators, and many other things. It has been very reliable I would just like to get this problem resolved soon during my quot;slowquot; part of the season. Thanks!
White smoke means its burning coolant, u prob have a bad head gasket or cracked head
