- Q:There's a huge construction site (buildings being torn down) that I drive by on my way to work, and it's full of various heavy equipment. I'm fascinated by the excavators, because they remind me of giant, toothy quot;mouthsquot; on the end of long arms. It's also interesting to see how precisely they can chomp, lift and/or move things with their quot;jawsquot;. (I know, they're actually called buckets, heads and/or attachments, but I like the metaphor of mouths and jaws. *grin*)I was just curious how easy or difficult excavators are to operate? I'm guessing they're more challenging than some pieces of construction equipment. Hopefully at least some folks here have experience using them. Thanks and have a great weekend! :)
- wow....you sure have an obsession starting there...lol anyway, it's not too hard to get the basics down, how to move the different mechanisms, but you need to have lots of practice before you do anything that requires precision. One wrong move and all that horsepower can make big damage! And they're like most pieces of heavy equipment...they're very challenging to operate well. I have some experience pipelining, so I have seen lots of operators. Most have to have years of experience before they're really good. Its tough to get someone to show you how if you're not being paid....you can rent tiny ones at some rental places if you really want to give it a try! pick a wide open space, and remember, you have to have the ground searched for buried pipelines, electrical lines, phone, water and sewer, etc before you dig.
- Q:I was recently digging a post hole and scraped my undergound electric cable. The post hole digger damaged the insulation and scraped one of the wires. It sparked a lot then started smoking. I still had power to all parts of my house. The wire was not cut in half. Only the casing was damaged. In fear of being charged by the power company to repare the damage, I simply filled in the hole. Can anyone tell me if I can expect the exposed wire underground to give me any problems?

- Q:We built our own house two years ago and moved in April 2008. We had the excavators back-fill after inspections. Since then the soil has been settling down to the point now I can see the top of the tar on the foundation. How long does this continue? It seems to have slowed down this past year, but it has messed up my plans of planting around my house. I want to put more dirt around the foundation to build it back up where it is suppose to be, but then I'd have to wait on that to settle. That is a lot of dirt. I'm debating on doing it myself or have the excavator come back in and do it for me.
- Although the ground never finishes settling most settling will occur in the first 4 years. I suggest you fill in with dirt now and then again next season. Planting will help bind the dirt and can be started after this first fill.

- it extremely is in simple terms an opinion in keeping with my very very own journey. i don't know if an in floor pool is an investment consistent with se. i know that that's a reasonably super cost to maintain up with the chemical factors and maintenance. i've got had an in floor, gunite (cement and plaster) pool for the final two decades. We have been given it whilst the babies have been little and it have been given distinctive use and enjoyment. Then there grew to become right into a lull and now my grandson loves it and it is used plenty lower back. From what i've got heard, a pool would not upload to the value of a house--even though it could in AZ the place you are able to in all probability use all of it year. Get a pool if that's what your loved ones needs. i can't remark on the prefab swimming pools. communicate on your pals that have them. have relaxing.
