Hi, just wondering, what are the major advantages and disadvantages does carbon have over aluminum frames? Stiffness, weight, durability? Thanks.
Carbon is a lot lighter than aluminium and also much stiffer and harder. In terms of weight, carbon frames can be up to half the weight of aluminium frames. In terms of stiffness, aluminium frames can be relatively stiff, but it helps to have carbon forks if you are looking for stiff frames. As for durability carbon is much stronger than aluminium, however aluminium is still quite a durable material. As for price, however, aluminium frames with carbon forks are a great cheaper alternative to carbon frames and will serve you well.

Aluminum is lighter, and almost impossible to break, on the different hand, in case you pick wood, you're able to desire to continually nail screws in the different way as much because it, yet then you definately've gotten a stressful time pulling it out of them in between swings.
a)?The thermit reaction shows that aluminium is a reactive metal.?Aluminium is used for door-frames and window-frames.How can both these statements be true?b)?Aluminium conducts heat?Aluminium is used as a thermal insulator. How can both these statements be true?
Aluminum will combine with oxygen faster that any other element. Powdered aluminum is even used as a rocket fuel! That’s what is in the space shuttle’s booster rockets. When you have a piece of aluminum at home, say a sheet of foil, the surface has already oxidized. The surface of aluminum oxide protects the underlying metal from further oxidation so the foil remains inert, even in your oven. In foil thermal blankets, the extremely thin amount of aluminum foil reflects radiated heat. That’s its purpose there. It does however conduct latent heat very well. In your oven at home, you can pick up a hot food item by holding only the thin aluminum foil. This is because the foil is so thin that even if the temperature is, say 400 degrees, the tiny amount of foil that your finger touches does not have enough total heat to burn you.
As I remember it, in the late '60s crafts stores like Moskatel's/Michael's sold hanging light fixture kits that required you to fill in the diamond-shaped wire mesh with colorful pieces that you made by pouring a stinky two-part epoxy resin (I think) into a moldYou would leave the mold to dry, and then you would pop out the pieces and glue them onto the diamond mesh. Was there a brand name for that craft kit?Or was there just simply a name for that specific type of craft?
