FAQ

I'm going to buy a pump to take water from a lake and use it to water the grass at my cottage. I would like to run at least 2 hoses at the same time. I'm looking at one that's 3/4 horse. Is this too small? The yard is a little more than an acre.
not only do you have to move a lot of water, but you have to LIFT it over a long distance.... you may need a pump in the middle of your distance, as well....
do you trust the bran?
Point blank, ask the folks at Auto Zone where this water-pump was produced. If it was re-manufactured off-shore leave it on their shelves. I trust you knew these Duralast water-pumps are re-manufactured. All AC-Delco starters, alternators and water-pumps are re-manufactured in the USA. Every part inside the reused housings are factory brand new with parts made here in the US.
i dont think that the water pump is out. i have a 88 evinrude outboard and the other day i noticed that the water was barley trickling out the hose. then it just stopped coming out the hose. it still comes out of the exhaust just fine. the motor is not get hot. is it ok if it still comes out the exhaust/ i will attemp to run a wire up in the hose to see if it is clogged later today. what do yous think
im guessing the impeller (in a rely of a pair days off) went undesirable, which isn't likely, no longer extremely all that no longer likely. how previous grow to be it? are you interior the habit of cranking the motor without water connected? the two holes are exhaust alleviation ports -- their function is to alleviate rigidity to facilitate commencing, which might fairly be made confusing by using backpressure on the underwater exhaust. lots of the water comes out down via the decrease unit, despite if it is common to be certain water popping out those ports.
I have a Stamas boat that I am in the middle of restoring. It has 2 chevy 350's, with borg warner (sp) tranny's, and v-drives. Anyway, it has standard water pumps to cool the engines, and it had 2 Sherwood pumps to circulate the water to cool the tranny's, and v-drives. First, I am using the boat in Lake Michigan only, the water is very cool year round since it is such a big body of fresh water. I was wondering if there was any recommendation on possibly using 2 electric pumps to circulate the water? If so, what would a good unit be? Second, the transmission coolers were brass, with a honey comb in the center for the ATS fluid to run through, and the water would run on the outside to cool the fluid. Is this a more effective way to cool the fluid than with those expensive brass fitting? Just checking before I spend a few hundred on them to see if a better way to cool my engine and tranny's, in all honestly though, I am more worried about effectiveness than cost.

What is the function of a submersible pump?
Submersible pump motor and pump is directly connected with the water pump body into the water to work, it is suitable for the extraction of groundwater from wells, can also be used in rivers, reservoirs, canals and other water projects: mainly used for irrigation and plateau in the drinking water, but also for the city, factories, railways, mining and construction site the use of water supply and drainage.Characteristics of submersible pumps for well1 、 motor, water pump, submerged operation, safe and reliable.2, the well pipe and pump water pipe without special requirements (i.e.: steel tube wells, tube wells, Doi ash can be used).3, installation, use and maintenance of convenient, simple, small footprint, do not need to build pumping stations. The structure is simple, and the raw materials are saved.4, submersible pump conditions are appropriate, properly managed, and has a direct relationship with the service life.
I got my oil changed yesterday and took like a 3 hour drive and back home and had no issues.. today I was at my work visiting and I noticed smoke coming from the engine [sort of more of steam] and a lot of smoke coming from the exhaust. The light on the gauge inside the car for the engine temp isn't working but all the other ones are. A mechanic told me it was a bad water pump, but I just want some more opinions. Or if the oil change could of effected that.. My engine coolant wasn't that low but a greenish liquid was really leaking from underneath the car.
sorry but you need to let a pro do this, you could of easily blown your head gaskets(MAJOR MONEY), running it hot, good luck, oil changes has nothing to do with the coolant problem, even if they topped off the antifreeze they would charge you and tell you, and if they left the cap off the coolant resivoir, it wouldnt steam and smoke out of the exhaust, good luck
We bought a second hand Rover 75, three months later head gasket blew. This was replaced but blew again due to original wet liners. A reconditioned engine was then put in but head gasket blew again due to original water pump. I am not trying to ascertain blame i would just like to know which is accurate as car seller is saying fault of mechanic as should have changed wet liners and water pump and mechanic is saying it is not common practice to change this parts when you replace a head gasket or engine. Thanks for any clarification, especially if you are a mechanic yourself.
Well the answer is..... I am going to take a guess that this is a Rover K series engine. They blow the head gasket just for something to do. Terrible problem when the engine was a 1.4 and it only got worse as they bored the engines out. The original fault will be poor maintenance and a failure to ensure it always has loads of anti freeze or corrosion inhibitor in there. That makes the liner to block interface corrode. The second is more controversial, if I knew the water pump was fairly new then I would probably not fit a new one with an exchange engine. If however the water pump was old or an unknown quantity then I would almost certainly change it, and the clutch too, if I had the engine out as it's such a fiddly job to do. BUT who was paying for the work? If it was you then this would have added a fair bit to the bill (if you didn't tell him to change it then really you can't complain that he didn't do it) and it it was warranty work then the terms of the warranty might set out what was supposed to be done. I've been hearing a noise from my truck that sounds like a fan blade is rubbing against something metal but I could never figure out what it was and my truck seemed to be running fine. I recently replaced my radiator and now my truck is overheating. Was that noise my water pump going bad and now it's shot?
wiggle the fan blades and if they move any it is a bad water pump, they will also leak a little bit under the main shaft of the water pump housing, there is a hole on the bottom and top just for this reason, the metal squealing is the impeller in the water pump, it wont last long now
