FAQ

can solar panels be on houses? malls?stores? WHAT ABOUT TRAINS?
Solar panels are an device that convert sun energy directly into electicity by photovoltaic effect, which is an physic and chemical phenomenon.solar panel can provide power for your home electical appliance instead of using electicity.
I know that one LED can't power a solar panel. I have found 40 kmcd LED's on OKorder. I know that several of them (28 totale each one with a 470 ohm resistor all at 2 VDC) can show a reflection on a wall in daylight 60 feet away..
Your question has a lot of science involved that I don't understand perhaps the link posted in my source for this answer could help you out? It a site containing only info on LED Lights. Good Luck
I don't have a regulator connected as they are a little expensive for a pensioner, If I join the panels into line to the battery bank from the roof should that be OK.?
Two things on a regulator: a) It will optimize the charge to the batteries - and thereby distribute the most possible power to your active circuits during the day. b) It will prevent the power from the panels from boiling (no kidding) the batteries - no small thing as they are the second largest investment you have after the panels themselves. This is much more critical if you have sealed or Zero-Maintenance batteries. I strongly suggest that you get a regulator as it will significantly lengthen battery life. Follow the directions on the regulator for optimum input voltage and it will let you know whether all the panels should be in series, parallel or series/parallel. But cutting to the chase, you can certainly gang up panels as needed.
I am building a solar car for the energy wiz competition and I was wondering how I could possibly get my solar panel to shift sideways
having solar panels move like that on a mobile platform is inadvisable -- especially if there is a dynamic wind load resulting from the motion of the mobile platform. Even having a tilt mechanism is dubious at best. think of what limited marginal gain would be gained by mounting a small solar panel on the moon roof of a car. (ultimately, the best answer is to turn the car so that it's angle to the sun is optimal -- but the road/travel direction constraints are what ultimately prohibit that.) while there are ways to build sliding panels, the weight constraints would interfere with your weight/thrust ratios to the point of futility. if you really need that panel somewhere else, don't slide it out of the way, just buy another panel and mount it there. it's more expensive, but it's actually the cheapest solution in terms of design on a mobile platform.
Yes, solar panels can be installed on concert venues or music festivals. In fact, many venues and festivals are now embracing renewable energy solutions like solar panels to reduce their carbon footprint and promote sustainability. Solar panels can be installed on rooftops, parking lots, or open spaces, providing a clean and renewable source of energy to power stages, lighting, and other electrical needs. This not only helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but also showcases a commitment to environmental responsibility in the entertainment industry.
Yes, solar panels can be installed on desalination plants to generate renewable energy and help power the plant's operations. This integration of solar power can reduce the reliance on fossil fuels and make the desalination process more sustainable.
Okay, me and my friends are going to fix up an old trailer that's out in the woods, we want something to be able to run small electric appliances off of, but it's to far to run power to. How can we make a good but cheap homemade solar panel that we could plug things into? The trailer is in more of a field so it gets plenty of sunlight! Thanks for any help! :)
you cant make solar panels to generate electricity at home. A LOT of high tech equipment is needed. About the cheapest option is to use solar powered garden lights but that is all you'll get is a bit of light.(Google making solar panels) You should be able to make up a windmill powered generator though (but dont expect much power out of something you can make easily) Do some research yourself
Hello,What do you all think about the future of solar panels and what role they will play in the near future. There is tons of money being dumped into the industry and demand is slowly rising. Also do you have any favorite solar links to get more info about them?
Solar Panel really isn't any new technology, it was discovered in the early 60s. And as you can see it hasn't progressed all that much. But Developers are saying that within the next five years solar technology will increase dramatically. With more and more people looking for greener and easier forms of energy, there are many looking towards solar. In fact some energy companies are willing to buy the energy that you produce from you. And with new forms of thinner silicon panels, we are looking at a more efficient kind of panels. Unfortunately for us, at the moment thin-film panel silicon isn't as efficient as we are looking for. They are flimsier than the traditional panels and do not contain as much silicon to produce the electricity. But as soon as the demand increases, the production will increase, and if more companies are looking to invest in solar, then there will be more competition, with more competition- we are going to have improved technology, and with more improved technology, the prices will go down. Because at the moment, there is not much of an incentive for solar power. Compared to the Kilowatt- hour produced from coal and other forms of energy, solar does not produce as much. Experts are saying that within the next five years, not having solar panels on your house will be as silly as building a house without plumbing. The future on solar panels looks bright.
