It will use the same gas as your car, oil will be in the bottom of the motor, have some one show you how to check the oil level. and where to put the gas, then how to start it, keep extra oil gas on hand, also what size are you getting ? it will depend on what your going to power, a 6,000 watt generator will cover a lot of small stuff, and will run for 5 to 6 hrs on a full tank of gas, don't for get to take a extension cord, and a plug strip,
Q:I intend to buy Diesel Generator sets in USA but the problem is that the Generator sets available in USA are 50/60Hz /1800rpm, pf 1.0 , 277/480V whereas in my country the Frequency is 50Hz , Voltage is 220/380V and power factor is 0.8. What shall I do to convert the US spec's to what is my requirement.
It is a fairly easy adjustment to make for most of the equipment, as manufacturers know that many people need 50 Hz power. Mention your needs to the company you are buying the generators from. They should be happy to perform/quote a conversion for you.
Q:engine is on a generator with about 800 hrs. changed fuel and fuel is getting to cylinder, pulled valve cover and valves are moving like they should, sprayed either in air intake and still no pop. any ideas other than to scrap the engine
What brand of Diesel engine is it? If it is a Detroit Diesel try resetting the air box lever.

You would need to be more specific. Multiply the watts of one laptop power supply by 14, then get a more powerful invertor. e.g. 14 x 50 watt laptops 700 watts, get at least a 1 Kw invertor. It is difficult to predict how long a particular battery will power an invertor, a 1 Kilowatt load will draw a huge current, about 50 amps from a 12 volt battery. If at all possible you would be better off using a petrol or diesel generator and extension leads, as the size of battery needed would be enormous, you would need a no. of 12 volt large 12 volt batteries joined together, or one battery and one x 100 watt invertor for each laptop. You might also consider using a battery to power a DC to DC convertor for each laptop. For example one laptop could use a 12 volt, 50 AH battery and a 12 to 20 volt convertor, this will probably run a 50 watt laptop for 6 hours. I say probably because the only way to know for sure is to try it out. For the price of 14 batteries and 14 convertors you can probably buy a really good silent 1 kw petrol generator. This will be smaller, lighter and probably safer than 14 x 50 AH batteries.

I found a spec sheet on a 50kW diesel generator that says it uses 4.2 gallons per hour at full load, 3.3 gph at 3/4 load, 2.4 gph at 1/2 load, and 1.8 gph at 1/4 load. Full load for an hour would be 50 kWh, so that would be 4.2/50 or .084 gallons per kWh. If diesel is $4.50 per gallon, that would be about $0.38 per kWh. If you run at 1/4 load, 12.5 kW instead of 50 Kw, you would pay $0.65 per kWh.

The water drains out of the sink because it is a downhill flow from the sink to the sewerage outlet. The actual pressure is due to the height of the water and gravity. This can be stated as a head, in meters. Similarly the water comes out of a tap because it has a downhill flow from the supply reservoir typically. This can be a tank on a hill, or a tower. The water is transferred to the reservoir from its source like a lake by a pump, which gets it uphill to the reservoir. The pump is usually an electric one, though a diesel generator could be used as backup, or even a diesel driven pump could be used. Electricity is cheaper to run, considering the energy involved can be costly. The static pressure comes from the height of the reservoir above the tap outlet. This is also seen as a head. The typical pressure is 40 to 80 psi (equivalent to 30 to 60m of head or water column). Once the water is flowing at full bore the pressure drops, due to the pipe resistance and such effects, typically represented as 10-20psi approx. 8 to 16m of head. This is the pressure before the water leaves the tap (faucet), and is enough to flow through some device like a shower. At a remote property a tank stand may be used to get some height, or a pressure pump, which is equivalent. With a pressure pump the water is pumped into a rubber bladder like a large football bladder, so it can be squeezed out on demand. The pump runs cyclically as required to keep sufficient pressure in the bladder. This arrangement is known as an accumulator. High buildings may have related accumulators or a reservoir on top, and a pump/s to get water up there.

You want to connect a 4 kw load to a 6 kw generator. As long as the 6 kw (6,000 watts) rating of the generator is accurate it should power the lamps fine. You're only using 66% of the generator capacity. There aren't any significant losses to worry about and no point in doing any calculations. They were done for you in the kw rating of the generator. Just don't use any extension cords that are too small for the lights.
