There are a few things that could be wrong- your usb port, your card or the card reader. Why not try it on a friend's computer and see if it worksif it does, the problem lies with your computer. - It sounds like you've a problem with your USB port - try a different one if possible.

- You shouldn't need a driver - it should just map as a generic disk drive. Does it perhaps just use A: even with the SD card? Since it has already mapped A: for floppy use, it may just use that for SD card use as well. You should also check your disk assignments in drive mangement (right click my computer-manage) - it may be trying to assign itself a drive letter that is already in use.
